"It depends on what else is on the tapes."

Preparing to raise his price from 30 pieces of silver.

This is how the liberals work. You trust them for one purpose, like publishing a book, then they break that trust for their purposes. No doubt someone at the publisher's, or connected therewith, contacted the NYT.

Now it's probably inevitable that the rest of the tapes will be released, because thanks to Mr. Wead's stupidity, and the stupidity of his comments, we're all thinking that there's damaging stuff. Not good for Bush. Not at all.

Who hasn't said things in private that they wouldn't want to world to hear? I know I have. But if you look at Bush's record and what little of the tapes I've heard, seems like he's the same in public and private. Compare tapes of Nixon and Bush and see who seems to be more honest and forthright. I think this will turn out to be much ado about nothing.

Maybe I don't understand the story totally, but if the recordings are secret; i.e., if the Prez didn't know he was being taped, that's a felony in most jurisdictions, and I believe federally.

Weads tapes could have been extremly damaging during two presidential campaigns. The fact that they didn't come out during either campaigns tells me that Wead wasn't seeking to harm the president.

Doctors and Lawyers have a legal and ethical obligation regarding confidentiality towards those that seek help from them.....

Spiritual advisors, ie. Ministers/Priests etc., also have an obligation regarding confidentiality and this guy screwed the pooch.

Eleanor Clift was interviewed on FOX and she tried to spin it that people would see that Bush actually had a plan that examined a lot of possibilities in his run for President and that would make people feel that actually having a thoughtful plan was distatseful.

Typical Dim thinking - they can plot all kinds of illegal/immoral things and justify it by saying it was all good, and a decent, God-loving man cannot eaxamine how his faith in God will play to different crowds because that makes him sordid and conniving.

No wonder they're on the way down and out.

Wead has not only betrayed a friendship, he is hyping his book.

This guy is to friendship what OJ Simpson is to Nicole.

Let me get this straight: you tape private conversations with a "friend" without his knowledge or permission, then release embarrassing segments of those tapes to his enemies in the media, but it's only a "betrayal" if you release the entire thing? Sounds like Mr. Wead is the one who's been puffing the weed.

It sounds like he's looking to blackmail the president or up the ante for $$ from the media.

My, my, my you have posted yet another article regarding this story---what about this story is so fascinating to you?

I think the reason he didn't release the tapes before the election is because either he wasn't finished with his book yet, or, he knew that the book and by extension the tapes, would be more valuable when the person he betrayed is a SITTING PRESIDENT---

Also, Bush fans, the dems promised before the election that they would find "any way possible" to have Bush impeached. Don't look now, but how many millions has this guy been offered by Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton to get ahold of those tapes?

This is just plain nasty stuff---

timewarner, I just hope you are not a troll

I think he's looking for a big check or he's going to hand those tapes over to CNN, that's what it looks like to me. What a scoundrel, the President is many things but not a good judge of character for choosing this man as his friend.

It doesn't matter what is on the tapes. Murder, Rape, womanizing, cocaine, etc. All this has been exposed either on tape OR by FIRST HAND PERSONAL accounts concerning X42. The MSM didn't care then, and I am sure they don't care now!!

I wonder if any privacy laws were breached by the making of these tapes.

Mr. Wead's book is a flop. Now we know why he released the tapes to the NY Times. His book is going down the tubes:

The Raising of a President
by Doug Wead
Amazon.com Sales Rank in Books: #77
Barnes & Noble Sales Rank: 207

He told the Times, for instance, that his motive in releasing some of his tapes had nothing to do with the fact that he has a new book to publicize.

Yeah right. So in addition to being a treacherous weasel he's a lying sack of sh*t too. Figures.

The guy is like Judas. He is angry that Bush isn't as far right as he should be so he thinks by hurting Bush he is helping the far right cause. It won't come out like he thinks it will but at least he will have his 30 pieces of silver.
