Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- A local judge has ruled that the estranged husband of Terri Schiavo cannot starve her to death tomorrow and has set a hearing this week to determine if he should be prevent from doing so while her parents continue their legal battle to save her life.
Michael Schiavo intended to remove Terri's feeding tube on Tuesday afternoon once a Florida appeals court finalizes its decision against Terri's parents Bob and Mary Schindler.
The Schindlers has hoped to convince the court that starving Terri to death would violate her religious liberties. As a Catholic, the Schindlers contend Terri would not want to have her life ended.
The Schindlers are planning to take that fight to the Supreme Court and, while they appeal, they want Michael prevented from ending Terri's life.
On Monday afternoon, Circuit Court Judge George Greer ruled that Michael will have to wait until he can hold a hearing on whether to allow the stay preventing the starvation to continue. Judge Greer set a date for a hearing on Wednesday.
While Terri is not on artificial life support and can breathe on her own, she requires a gastric tube to provide her with food and water. Should that be removed, she will die from a painful 7 to 10-day long starvation death.
George Felos, the euthanasia advocate who is Michael's lead attorney, has instructed him to remove the feeding tube as soon as he is legally authorized.
In addition to their legal fight, the Schindlers have brought in pro-life activist Randall Terry to encourage grassroots support on Terri's behalf.
"If Michael Schiavo has Terri's feeding tube removed, we will respond with an avalanche of activism to save Terri from death by starvation," Terry said Monday afternoon. "Why is Michael determined to starve this woman? Why won't he just give Terri back to her parents?"

(Standing ovation.)
Hater...
VaBthang4, you should know that you are important to us, too, and if someone had beaten you to the point where you became disabled from the beating, and if you were being threatened with having your feeding tube removed so you could be slowly and painfully starved to death, and you were unable to speak for yourself, many of us, most of us, maybe all of us would be starting threads like these on your behalf. I would hope that no one would bop onto any of the threads telling us to get over ourselves.
It's not really about us, it's about someone who's helpless, someone literally being held prisoner by a malevolent person for reasons that are without honor. It's about saving a life that is conscious--disabled, but that does not mean it is a life without value.

...of stupidity, most definitely yes.
I just saw a trailer on FoxNews that said she was totally dependent on machines to survive. They make it sound like she is on life support. I am so disgusted with the lies of the media.
That's the big question that runs around my little pea-brain - most of the money must be gone, why not cut ties and let her parents care for her? Being with another woman and having kids with her would seem to negate the "loving husband that just wants what she wants" excuse.
There is some really virulent evil tangled up in this...
Forgive my tinfoil, but I believe that the man is concerned that if the parents gain custody, she will thrive under their care and eventually reach the point where she might be able to tell what happened to her.
the media presents Terri as "brain dead" which she is not, she's "brain damaged". HUGE difference
I can't speak for anyone but myself, but your remarks about not praying about this and righteous indignation funk while walking in iniquity are a bit over the top. You do not know my prayer life, and I believe God wants us to pray AS we do His work.
Our society has taken a step closer to evil, and I'm standing with God on this issue. If He wanted Terri with Him, I have no doubt He could cause her heart to stop beating this very instant. Since He hasn't, I don't think it Terri's time yet and that God wants us to get off our duffs and straighten out this mess before we end up with more legalized murders like abortions we already have going on.
THAT is appalling! Time to hit Fox News with a blast, too!
If they weren't before, they are now! Thanks!
God Bless, a standing ovation is entirely in order, however unfortunately your standing ovation obviously was too early.
No I am not. You do not know me.
"and if someone had..."
If someone tried they'd have been dealt with along time ago as I and those around me live our lives right before God. Those responsible for me know how to do more than offer legal petitions and lawsuits or vain words. They know how to approach the God of all creation...in spirit and in truth [as He is not as they want Him to be] and intercede [with Him] on my behalf so that He can then move.
This Woman has individuals responsible for her. If something as cheesy as the authority of Man is hindering them from obeying God then they have an advocate. Now, if they are not living a life that is pleasing in God's sight then they should repent and turn to that advocate. God is no respector of persons. Regardless, they can still call on His grace and he may well interced for them. However, no flesh will glory in His sight. And there is a strong Man to be dealt with first...something of which none of the "on fire for schiavo" freepers seem remotely aware of.
All of this empty bandwidth 90% of which accomplishes zero.
"It's not really about us..."
Oh I strongly disagree. The majority of folks I have read here involved|interested in this story are in it because of their own projections.
It is both sad...and laughable. I understand how Elijah felt when he mocked the prophets of Baal. All this wailing and carrying on.
prayer bump
Yes, we need to e-mail or otherwise contact the media and correct the comments about Terri.
Can you give me clarification? You've obviously read the Word. I can't help but think of the Bible vs. Faith without works is dead. So why should we only pray and not do something beyond that. That's what non Christians want us to do,they don't want us involved in politics, etc., just shut up and pray. Hoping God will do everything for us, isn't that a little selfish? Hey, just asking here. Eager to hear opinions other than mine.
