Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- A local judge has ruled that the estranged husband of Terri Schiavo cannot starve her to death tomorrow and has set a hearing this week to determine if he should be prevent from doing so while her parents continue their legal battle to save her life.
Michael Schiavo intended to remove Terri's feeding tube on Tuesday afternoon once a Florida appeals court finalizes its decision against Terri's parents Bob and Mary Schindler.
The Schindlers has hoped to convince the court that starving Terri to death would violate her religious liberties. As a Catholic, the Schindlers contend Terri would not want to have her life ended.
The Schindlers are planning to take that fight to the Supreme Court and, while they appeal, they want Michael prevented from ending Terri's life.
On Monday afternoon, Circuit Court Judge George Greer ruled that Michael will have to wait until he can hold a hearing on whether to allow the stay preventing the starvation to continue. Judge Greer set a date for a hearing on Wednesday.
While Terri is not on artificial life support and can breathe on her own, she requires a gastric tube to provide her with food and water. Should that be removed, she will die from a painful 7 to 10-day long starvation death.
George Felos, the euthanasia advocate who is Michael's lead attorney, has instructed him to remove the feeding tube as soon as he is legally authorized.
In addition to their legal fight, the Schindlers have brought in pro-life activist Randall Terry to encourage grassroots support on Terri's behalf.
"If Michael Schiavo has Terri's feeding tube removed, we will respond with an avalanche of activism to save Terri from death by starvation," Terry said Monday afternoon. "Why is Michael determined to starve this woman? Why won't he just give Terri back to her parents?"

People who use Christ to justify their ungodly acts, deeds and words truly repulse me. Jesus cared for the helpless...you want the helpless murdered. Don't talk to me about your righteousness...it reeks.

Appeals court clears way for feeding tube removal in Schiavo case

DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) -- The case over a severely brain-damaged woman remained frozen in a legal stalemate Tuesday after a Florida appeals court first cleared the way for her husband to remove her feeding tube only to see a judge promptly block the removal until at least Wednesday.
The 2nd District Court of Appeal offered no specific instructions in a one-page mandate issued in Terri Schiavo's case. That meant her husband, Michael Schiavo, could order his wife's tube be removed.
But Pinellas Circuit Court Judge George Greer issued an emergency stay blocking removal of Terri Schiavo's feeding tube until 5 p.m. EST Wednesday. Greer, who has been overseeing the long-standing dispute, has scheduled a hearing on the case earlier Wednesday.
Ok, I'm a little confused. I read (link at #162, and elsewhere) that Greer has said Michael will remove the tube regardless of Greer's order, since Greer "doesn't have jurisdiction". So did Michael change his mind, and is following Greer's order, or is he removing the tube anyway?
What is going on with Greer now?? I have no faith in him having a change of heart. Is this something he's doing to confuse Terris parents and us?? I really am confused. He has never ruled for the Schindlers. God bless them and Terri.
So at what point between 1 and 40 million should we be outraged. Give us a number.
These thread are populated by supporters of Terri's. If you dislike the attention paid to her, maybe you should rethink your own attention.
Hey, have you two heard of that story about a good shepard that leaves the flock to save one sheep?
My guess is Felos just pushed him too far with that fax yesterday saying he (Greer) didn't have jurisdiction. The fax was almost taunting. Probably ticked Greer off to the point of ordering the stay. Judges don't like to be told what they can and cannot do.
There are many who come to these Terri threads to disrupt. Some are truly uninformed, believing the media spin that she is on 'life support'. Then, there are the more insidious types, the ones who understand what is going on and support it. As you said, some are even more repulsive by trying to use Jesus as support for their contention that the disabled be killed. They usually try to throw scripture at us, try to use it to show that we are wrong in trying to help this poor woman. It varies from this to simply saying, "send her to God", knowing that by using the word "send", they mean murder. Invoking God and Jesus while wishing for murder doesn't get more repulsive.
Our Lord continue to Bless Terri's parents with His Own Strength, as they Live under a Stress most of us cannot Imagine. O Master, we Thank You for the Fortitude You have Granted to Your children, for Upholding them with Your Sovereign Grace. Sustain them, Great King, and Return our Terri to their Loving Embrace, to the Praise of Your Love and Mercy. Bare Your Arm of Power, and Move for our Terri, and we will Give You Glory, Honor, and Praise. We Exalt You, our Savior, as we Pray in Thy Name, amen.
You completely misunderstood my post. I was saying that as born again, blood washed Christians, we should NOT judge another Christians "heart". We are however, to Judge each others actions. Jesus told us how to do that. First, you go to the individual privately but in a Spirit of HUMILITY. If the brother or sister will not listen, you take another Christian with you and do the same thing again. If they still won't listen or change their actions, you take the elders of the Church. After that, if they won't listen, we are Not to eat or drink or fellowship with them, in the hopes that they will be ashamed, repent and return to the fold. STOP!! with your religiosity. It isn't attractive at all and it accomplishes nothing. You speak as though you are the ONLY Christian around that has a grasp of the Scriptures and that YOU need to continue to use the Word of God to beat others over the head with. We are all trying to save an innocent girls life not argue over Scripture or motives. And incidentally, Where we don't Judge is those in the World because "they are Judged already". Why don't you just pray for Terri to be freed and stop fighting with the rest of us. It accomplishes nothing and it's wrong. Especially in the "name of the Lord".
Maybe Judge Greer's Pastor had a chat with him. Who knows? But I agree with you it's somewhat confusing. The statements of Mr. Felos really DO sound overboard. He is completely disrespecting the Court. Get the feeling he's desperate?
