The junior senator from New York has had a tough week (about to get tougher).
Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. John McCain are part of a five-member congressional delegation that is meeting with U.S. officials and members of Iraq's interim government. During the orchestrated photo ops she said, "The results of the election are a strong rebuke to those who did not believe that the Iraqi people would take this opportunity to demonstrate their own commitment to their own future."
Gee, do you think maybe OUR election in November could have been "a strong rebuke to those" who cling to the rejected politics of liberal Democrats? I have been a harsh critic of Hillary Clinton for a very long time. She is a mean-spirited, duplicitous, heavy-handed manipulator with a vile mouth and ruthless resolve. Hillary is Lady Macbeth on steroids, heralded as either the great Democrat hope or the personification of evil.
In the fictional world of Harry Potter, a boggart is a critter that manifests itself as the viewer's worst fear. Hillary is a hybrid boggart, revealing herself to those who see her as their worst fear or greatest savior.
New York Daily News gossipmonger Lloyd Grove recently wrote: "I hope Senator Hillary Clinton isn't counting on help from Hollywood mogul David Geffen in her possible run for the White House in 2008. Geffen, a generous supporter and pal of Bill Clinton when he was President, trashed Hillary's prospects during a Q&A at the 92nd St. Y. 'She can't win, and she's an incredibly polarizing figure,' the gazillionaire said. 'And ambition is just not a good enough reason.' Geffen's dis was met with hearty applause." Ouch!
Meanwhile, chronic talking head and law professor Susan Estrich can't seem to make up her mind. She has said Hillary is both 'too polarizing' and/or a slam-dunk cinch ... depending (I guess) on the phase of the moon and level of the professor's hormones.
The Web site www.Hillary-watch.org is monitoring how she votes, what legislation she sponsors, what she says and where she gets money.
Dr. Jack Wheeler reports on his Web site, To the Point (http://www.tothepointnews.com/article.php?id=629&i=), that a "red-breasted rumor bird" is buzzing around the Capitol whispering Hillary's worst nightmare.
Congressional know-it-alls claim Vice President Dick Cheney will use health reasons as an excuse to not finish his term. If or when that happens, word is that Bush will pick Condoleezza Rice to succeed Cheney. Wheeler says: "Being a sitting Vice-President places Condi in an impregnable position for the GOP nomination in 2008, and sucks every breath of wind from Hillary's sails. ... This is George Bush and Dick Cheney's way to buck history – and make it."
A Rice vice presidency is a big honking 'what if'. Some argue it is inappropriate to even articulate such a scenario with Cheney still in the gig.
However, Cheney has already made it abundantly clear that he has no intention of running for the big chair. Despite a plethora of wannabe Republicans, no real 'star' (among the usual suspects) exists. McCain is older than Reagan was (and he's no Ronald Reagan). Rudy Giuliani is damaged goods and a base-alienating RINO. Newt Gingrich is ... well, Newt, and as polarizing a figure as Hillary.
Dr. Rice is a Super Bowl pass to the end zone with 4 seconds on the clock when your team is down 3. Condi IS 'the catch'. If you compare Hillary and Rice with a list of traditional wedge issues, Condi is 'the bomb': • Her personal life story is remarkable.
• Her talents, skills and abilities are remarkable. • Her job performance at the nexus of critical history-making issues has been remarkable. • And, by the way, she's not only a woman; she's a black woman ... a black woman conservative scholar. HOOAH!
The GOP base will love her. Women will love her (she shatters the glass ceiling). All minorities will love her (with the exception of Middle Eastern terrorist sleeper cells). She is pro-gun, anti-abortion, pro-family, anti-taxes ...
Condoleezza Rice is a flipping juggernaut waiting to be unleashed on the dysfunctional, lost, babbling Democratic Party.
Democrats don't appear to have the brains, 'stones' or ability to save the party from the party leadership. Dems seem intent on wallowing in a perpetual state of denial and inability to even acknowledge overwhelming facts in evidence that contradict their preconceived opinions and prejudices.
As if the bitterly partisan screeds of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid weren't bad enough, the anachronistic Ted Kennedy still exerts influence. Suicidal Democrats have chosen Howard Dean as the DNC chairman in the vain hope that he can somehow change his spots.
Hillary has 'tried' to reinvent herself. She has 'tried' to mitigate her extreme liberal roots. She has even 'tried' to equivocate on abortion (go figure). However, if you think John Kerry got hammered for flip-flopping, wait for the point-counterpoint on Hillary.
Condoleezza Rice is Hillary's worst nightmare. If only the "red-breasted" rumor is true ...
Condi Rice is anti-abortion?
That's news to me.
This seems like a lot of idle rumors and unsupported facts. I don't think we should be speculating on the Vice President's health, or wishing him to resign.
She appears to be a sociopath, and so does her husband.
Their continued involvement in anything related to national policy and foreign involvments is a complete disaster.
Why is this person still in the news when what she is, and what she does is totally unimportant?
I don't think we should speculate on Cheney's health, but I definitely agree that Condi would be a dynamo in '08. She may have a little difficulty stemming from the fact that she has not run for elected office before, but I believe that she is skilled enough to overcome it.
Can you imagine how sweet it would be to have the first black woman president a REPUBLICAN? The libs would be having spasms uncontrollably! ;)

Generally I think this is true, but there could be some problems gaining support for Condi among the "good old boys" in the rural South and Midwest. This potential problem is not being discussed in corporate media because of its unsavory racial overtones. But I'm sure GOP pollsters will be quietly researching the strength of Condi's support in the reddest counties of the red states. I hope she has strong support there but I'm not so sure about it.
We will be mighty sick of the few national names being bandied about over the next 2+ years, from both parties.
Hillary won't even declare until after the '06. Allot can happen before then. Two years of 'if', 'when', 'what if', will get very old.
The same about Dr. Rice. And Guilini. And Kerry. And McCain. And Edwards. And Hagel.
If Hillary does get the '08 nod, she will have positioned herself to be more conservative than any in the previous paragraph. That is her win-win. Her party would have no where else to go, except their anointed one; and many right-wing conservatives don't see any RINOs as significantly viable alternatives.
Who else, so far, has come out against illegal immigration? You think that wasn't Hillary plan--to force the rest of the field (both parties) into uncomfortable or untenable positions. She will do similar on more issues in the coming months. Kerry and the Dems won't have the luxury of taking all sided on every issue; and neither will the Republicans. Hillary is already pushing the defense issue, too. That will marginalize the Deaniac and Hollywood wing--but where else are they going to go?
Yeh, Hillary is playing a cunning and determined game---against those in her own party, and the potential Republican contenders for '08.
You're right about that! If you thought the Swift Boat Vets were tough on Kerry, you ain't seen nothin' yet! Just wait until Arkansas Residents for Truth gets rolling and fires both barrels at the Hildabeast. After we FReepers and some new 527s are finished with her, the Hildabeast would be demolished at the polls by any reasonable GOP candidate. Hitlery has more skeletons in her closet than Jack Kervorkian.
She has to emerge from that campaign bloodied and battered. She has to face running away from the Democrat party toward America and abandoning her base. Can she put socialism on hold for three years? The issue must be forced.
Do we know this as fact or is it merely conjecture? I'll require proof before jumping on the bandwagon. Give me more information on Rep. Tancredo too.
P.S. If there is another significant act of terrorism before the election of '08, Republicans will blamed for it, probably rightfully so.
Condi Rice is an attractive prospect.
But.
She is pro Affirmative Action.
She may or may not be pro life. No one knows.
She has never been elected to any office and thus will have no experience at all campaigning. This is a crushing disadvantage.
I think she has no family credentials, never having married.
I know of no evangelical credentials, either.
It will be hard for her to gather the base plus the other factions that are required to undo the Democrats. Fracturing the black vote is not enough -- and don't take for granted she can do even that.
I love Condie, but I never thought she was conservative on the social issues. She is absolutely pro-America, and pro-defense. I'm not sure where she stands on taxes.
If this plays out, Hillary will put John Kerry to shame (if that's possible). She will have managed the flip-flop of an entire party. This strategy can't win, however. Even Howard Dean won't be able to produce voter turnout in the face of such overwhelming cognitive dissonance.
I believe Rice's father was a Presbyterian minister.
However, you are right, she herself has no public credentials that I know of as far as religion goes. She seems to keep that part of her life private.
Also, I agree, we don't know if Rice is pro-life or not; and, it is a "crushing disadvantage" that Rice has never campaigned for herself in any kind of election to political office.
