Doesn't Brooklyn have huge numbers of Muslims? I believe there was some rejoicing after 9/11 in Brooklyn. There were even articles posted here that some in the Brooklyn population even knew of the plot. Isn't it mmore likely that this is not an issue with the teacher but with several vocal Muslim students in the Social Studies class?

While I'm sure there are some Muslim students, the students in question (knowing the neighborhood) are a mixture of white yuppie larvae from above Fifth Avenue and Latinos (largely Dominican and Puerto Rican) from below Fifth Avenue.

Most muslim students in Brooklyn attend various schools in Bay Ridge, Sheepshead Bay, and Bensonhurst. You do have a private Muslim school about 15 blocks south of the school in the article, but most of the kids come from outside the neighborhood.
