...Mr Schiavo, who lives with a girlfriend by whom he has two children, plans to withdraw the gastric tube through which his wife is fed when a temporary court order barring him expires tomorrow. He insists that his wife once told him that she would not want to be kept alive should she ever suffer brain damage, although he recalled the conversation three years after her collapse and only after winning $1 million in medical negligence damages relating to her early care....

You see a news story about the impending starvation and removal of water in order to kill an animal and you'd have an enormous outcry. Most people are so callous and self-centered that looking upon the disabled makes them uncomfortable. To remove that discomfort, one, in their minds, has to remove the person causing it. Killing them and calling it euthanasia, mercy killing, "removal of life support", etc. sanitizes it for them.

Heck, how many times here on FR have we seen the uninformed posted type, "I wouldn't want to live that way." It's real easy to say kill the disabled when you yourself are not.

I still don't understand why he just doesn't divorce her and get on with his life and let her parents take care of her. How he can do this I can't understand. If he has a conscience at all, he should have nightmares for the rest of his life.

You don't understand. He is a monster. Terri has mysterious broken bones. Her trouble with her is though she has been strangled.

He wants her cremated as soon as she is dead -- no autopsy.

I guess an autopsy or other medical exams would prove he was guilty of breaking those bones and probably strangling her. She is probably terrified when he walks in the room.

That is exactly right.I've never seen an innocent life treated like shit as it is in this case.I am sorry for using that word but it's the only one that describes Terry's treatment by the courts and her pig of a husband. If they are allowed to kill her it will be one of the greatest injustices of our time. She has been cheated by her husband his lawyer and judge Greer from the very beginning and now it's like his hands are around her throat one last time squeezing the last bit of life from her in the end.

If any honest judge were on this case at the trial-court level(*) M----e- Schiavo would have been kicked out on his rear ages ago.

(*) I don't attack the appellate court judges as some here do. Judicial protocol is that determinations of witness credibility, no matter how outrageous, are not subject to appellate review. If the witnesses Greer found credible were telling the truth, and if those he found not credible were lying, then his decisions would be legally correct. Any normal person might be able to see that Michael and his hired friends are liars, but appellate courts aren't allowed to look at that.

"If they are allowed to kill her it will be one of the greatest injustices of our time."

I think you explained it well. I think Terri will be both an example and a martyr. I think if they are able to kill her, her death will be held up as an example of the worst of evils embraced by mankind.

For me, the dividing line between good and evil, God and Satan, death or life, is becoming sharper with each passing day. All that's left is for us to decide which side we are on.

I don't see how any doctor could conclude after all of these years of no therapy, WHAT kind of life Terri might have had.

I know that lady that started talking last week had been having therapy---

Aside from wanting her to die, almost as bad is the fact that Schiavo hasn't allowed the family and medical community to work with her---he has in essence killed her one day at a time, because without the therapy he forbade her to have, of course she doesn't respond as well as they would hope--

I guess I better quit posting on this--- it makes me so upset that I am just grasping at anything---hoping to find, I don't even know what....

The parents and their backers need to follow the example of our leaders from the later 1700's.

He's been trying to kill her by refusing therapy. He got Felos involved because Terri refused to die like she was supposed to.

How exactly should they go about doing that? Police have radios and other communications gear that would severely limit the effectiveness of a surprise raid. And there are never barrels of asphalt and fuzzy bird coverings around when they're needed.

I know what you mean. I would be of no help if this situation were my child. I'd be in prison by now, or soon would be. No way I could just let it happen without going completely nuts! Go after Michael, the judge, Felos. Try to kidnap her, block the doors...SOMETHING!

They may be surprised when the police decide to SAVE a life?

The true criminals here are the "husband", the lawyers, coward politicians and an activist judge who will see HIS day coming.

Maybe JUSTICE can prevail for a change?

I left out a key word in:

Her trouble with her is though she has been strangled.

Her trouble with her neck is though she has been strangled.

There is a thread about Terri and Michael under the US Florida topic that alludes to Michael being a Monster. These things are brought out in the article by Jews for Life

If there is concern about injuries sustained in a beating or prior beatings, why don't they do a CT scan or MRI?

Of course. And I hope so too. It's just that I've seen the right pull back time and time again from serious confrontation, even in situations like this one that are so perfect for us, and where our position is so right on the merits.
