Times online.co.uk ^ | 2/21/2005 | Jacqui Goddard

Posted on 02/20/2005 5:52:01 PM PST by bjs1779

...Mr Schiavo, who lives with a girlfriend by whom he has two children, plans to withdraw the gastric tube through which his wife is fed when a temporary court order barring him expires tomorrow. He insists that his wife once told him that she would not want to be kept alive should she ever suffer brain damage, although he recalled the conversation three years after her collapse and only after winning $1 million in medical negligence damages relating to her early care....

I can't imagine the public's reaction at footage of this woman slowly starving to death.

This is so unbelievable, the whole thing.

What footage? The man who talks eagerly about indelicate aspects of her gynecological exams wants to protect her privacy and won't allow any cameras.

Me neither! They will show us all of this after she is dead though!

does anyone really care? As evidenced by some sacrificial action?

Is there a sane person with the spirit of the founders, the revolutionaries, willing to put his own comfort aside to prevent an innocent life from being taken by another person because civil government has been emasculated and is powerless to stop it -- though it will throw you in jail if you insist on taking your freaking nail clippers with you on an airliner?

I suppose we'll find out.

I still don't understand why he just doesn't divorce her and get on with his life and let her parents take care of her. How he can do this I can't understand. If he has a conscience at all, he should have nightmares for the rest of his life.

Have no fear, the "right" will wimp out as it always does. There will be lots and lots of prayer, but very little action.

Mr. Schiavo should be hounded mercilessly. His own conscience is badly underdeveloped. Other people will have to substitute for it.

In short, we should be screaming about this at the top of our lungs. Every day in every way.

John Edwards supposedly earned million of dollars as a lawyer by "channeling" a fetus with cystic fibrosis.

The plaintiff, Edwards' client, was supposedly awarded millions---

If a case was actually won on the basis of him "channeling" the thoughts of a fetus---then how can any judge say what thoughts are running through Terri Schiavo's head right now?

What if she is totally cognizant of what is being said, but can't express her fear ---YET?

I would just have to ask the judge and her husband(although I don't think his motives are out of love for her)WHAT IF---
WHAT IF SHE KNOWS, BUT CAN'T SAY?

Oh, lord, I pray that it isn't so, because I can't think of anything more cruel than to have this woman killed while fully aware of what is going on, and not be able to do anything about it....

Simple: If she ever were to recover, she explain to the world before a judge the cause of the trauma she suffered, sending Michael to prison where he belongs.

I know the vast majority here agree with you. It will tarnish this great nation of ours if this is carried out.

It has something to do with the money he got - if she dies he gets it all if she lives he has to share it - I don't remember all the particulars but it all boils down to the settlement.
He is one sick puppy.

How is it that a husband who has broken his marriage vows and is living in sin with another woman is given absolute control of the life of the wife he has abandoned?

I heard so apologist for Terri's husband on a talk radio show last week say that it is out of his hands--that he (Shiavo) doesn't have control and if he were to object to them removing the feeding tube, then HE would be in contempt of court and would get in trouble---

Have you ever heard of anything more ridiculous and/or cowardly?

you know, Cal, I really hope not. Don't you think the founders, if it could be so, would be looking upon us with laser focus and baited breath hoping beyond hope that their sacrifices weren't in vain?

they were not.

This man never loved his wife. He cares only for himself and the wrong people have taken hold him.

Unfortunately, this is not about Terri; it's about euthanasia and the right to snuff anyone for any reason.

How sickening. I hope her husband and those who chose to do this are charged with murder and they are convicted because this is what they doing.

They are thinking already. They peg Terri as dead and they are covering their tracks.
