"The Passion of the Christ" (search) was one of the top-grossing films of 2004, yet it has been totally ignored by the Golden Globes and doesn't prominently appear in most mainstream critics "Best of 2004" lists either. Instead, for its "Best Film" nominees, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association chose to honor a movie about a kindly abortionist ("Vera Drake"), a sex researcher ("Kinsey") and euthanasia ("The Sea Inside.")
No wonder then that mainstream America feels totally out of touch with Hollywood. And what about the producers, directors, actors and writers with conservative beliefs who live and work in the belly of the beast? During the recent national elections, being a conservative in Hollywood was like being a communist during the McCarthy hearings. Now, however, the braver ones are fighting back. Perhaps emboldened by the election of Governor Schwarzenegger (search) and President Bush's reelection, conservatives now have their own film festivals and they can give as good as they get: Young movie maker, Evan Maloney is already being called a "Conservative Michael Moore" as he shadows the left wing icon with his microphone and video camera.
This weekend, join host John Gibson as FOX News uncovers a side of Tinsel Town you probably never knew existed.
Using film clips and behind-the-scenes interviews with actors, producers and directors, "Hollywood vs. America" reveals how, frame-by-frame conservative filmmakers are taking back an industry that used to be the envy of the world.

Beuller? Beuller? Anyone?
Am going to do all I can to stay awake until ten, and see what Freepers have to say. I have no television.
Ain't it awful being a redneck farmer that can't stay awake past ten?
When will Hollow-wood start feeling the economic boycott of conservative, middle and working class money? Right now, there are plenty of movies that I simply will not go to because of their "stars" smug, self-righteous, arrogant, condescending, leftist and out right treasonous anti-Americanism. If they don't like me and my beliefs and prinicples, then there's no reason I should give them a cent of my money. I actively dislike them.
Aaaaarghh! The SNL retrospect from the early, great years is on at the same time.
What to do? What to do?
"Ain't it awful being a redneck farmer that can't stay awake past ten?"
Actually, it sounds good to me. No TV is a good idea. TV can rot your brain and steal and waste your life time.
I don't understand the relevance. Movies like "Spiderman 2", "Shrek 2", The Matrix movies, Phantom Menace, etc. were all huge hits and didn't get nominations.
There's plenty of evidence of Hollywood's loathing of Christianity. I think this one element is a bit of a canard. Fahrenheit 9-11 didn't get nominated for Globes or Oscars, either.
The golden age of hollywood is long gone.
I thought Shrek 2 did get a couple of animation nominations?
Exactly. And so I cheat, and let other Freepers do the watching, and sneakily benefit from their observations!
People who make a living playing roles don't have too much spine of their own.
People who make a living copying other people's behavior don't have too much spine of their own.
People who make a living studying their own image in a camera or in in mirror or on stage don't have too much spine of their own.
They will follow a crowd anywhere. No matter what the crowd is doing, they will follow the crowd.
That is our modern entertainment industry. The entertainment industry includes a new breed of actors----TV News readers. Check any newscast being =broadcast on a channel from anywhere--local or national.
No spine, just following the crowd.
I had intended for this to go out before it aired but it will repeat at 11pm EST.
perhaps your comment is in jest but if not you can watch the FOX show at 11pm EST
Yep, I'm watching. Thanks!
I am sorry if it was a repeat PING.
