Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.'s chief legal adviser has had more than a week to investigate the allegations that a state employee was orchestrating the spread of rumors about Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley's personal life.
Jervis Finney said Friday that he has yet to interview the man whose Web postings under the handle "NCPAC" prompted the story: longtime Ehrlich aide Joseph Steffen.
Instead, Finney seems to be focusing his investigation in another direction -- on the reporters covering the story. In a letter to several media outlets, Finney asked reporters to identify another contributor to the conservative Web site's musings, MD4BUSH. This contributor appears to have coaxed Steffen into discussing not only the rumor but also the notion that there was work done behind the scenes to give the rumor "float."....

Looks like the investigation is heading in the right direction and is getting Media exposure. If they want to know who MD4Bush is they need to get with Jim Robinson and the ISP MD4Bush was using when he made his FR posts.
It won't make much difference whether MD4Bush threw his computer in the river by now. It can be determined from what ISP customer's computer the posts were made.

I am seeing more stories on this in Google news. If they trace MD4Bush back to the Maryland Democratic Party, (and I am certain they can), It should blow up in their faces nicely.

Interesting start to this article:

More that a week? Yet? Instead? Hardly objective words. Sounds like the Post is trying to play defense here.

If you wanted to be a mole to trap a Republican aide to the Gov..you would be a gung ho Bush supporter,Kerry hater, blah blah..
MD4BUSH was almost a caricature and brought up O'Malley completely out of the blue again when the Kerik scandal broke.
He posted private mail here on old threads in two places from Steffan(NCPAC)at about the time the Wa Po story went up on its website.

MSM/OM Reporters worry that investigation isn't focusing on their mark but instead is looking for the grifter. Looks like the investigation is going in the right direction!
