MOSCOW, February 18 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia has transferred about 1.5 billion euros to member countries of the Paris Club in payment of the main debt and interest, a source in the Russian Finance Ministry told Prime Tass.

Russia transferred $400 million and 1.2 million euros via Vnesheconombank on February 17 and 18.

Russia’s debt to the Paris Club made $44.4 billion (36 billion euros) as of October 1, 2004, the source said.

Russia is holding negotiations on pre-term payment of the debt with the Paris Club members. It has suggested paying the debt within three years with annual transfers of $10-15 billion from the stabilization fund. The next round of the negotiations will be held in early March
