If there's a better villainess than the corporate multimillionaire who flouts the rules to save a few bucks, it's the defense lawyer who flouts the rules by claiming a higher duty to her terrorist client. Their convictions matter differently in important ways, but Martha Stewart and Lynne Stewart illuminate just how full the extent of the law can get in the conservative 2000s.

That terrorist loving, anti-American fascist should be shot in public for her treachery.
She would be a waste of a free bullet. Please use for aerial bombing material.
I guess Mr. Lee will agree that the Democrats are the party of Lynne Stewart.
[No one has shown that either Stewart's actions actually harmed anyone. Although Lynne Stewart apparently admits to having technically committed the acts, it is difficult to imagine that even the government believes she really wanted to visit violence on innocent people.]
Can any of these sophists offer a plausible alternative reason for her going out of her way to help terrorists.
Indeed it is treachery. Mr/Ms. Lee, the author, is really, really reaching here. Isn't it amazing how they always decry the erosion of our civil liberties, but can cite no other example than a lawyer defending scum and helping said scum continue his actions.
While the 60s radical Ms. Stewart is correct that criminals deserve legal representation, it seems she only means those criminals who work against American interests.
I think a public be-heading of her would more appropiate....of course done by the ragheads she supported...she must have forgotten that shes an infidel
I think they look a lot alike, but the lawyer has more class looks more feminine. Bwahahahaha
The "Blind Sheikh" wanted to blow up Manhattan. Doubtless, still does. So do his followers.
The Village Voice is in Manhattan. Are they immune, do they have a non-aggression pact with the Sheikh, or something?
Do they really hate Ashcroft that much?
" MAJOR reach trying to link these two cases"
yeah, it's a major reach. I think the geniuses at the voice think the fact that they have the same last name is significant. Lynn also appears softer and cudlier if you place her next to Martha. I think Martha got screwed, but have no symathy for Lynn.
In any case no one actually reads the articles in the Village Voice. People in nyc pick it up for the arts and movie listings then throw it away. Frankly I couldn't be bothered to do anything more than skim the article. life's too short.
I gotta get my glasses changed. I sure thought that read, "Punishing Mimes" and I'm all for that.
That's O.K. I think of them as a bunch of Commies.
A charge, I suspect, they would proudly admit to.
