The police are keeping a close eye on them, to be sure. It was explained to me that they allow the Islamists to meet in public, to mark them and follow them.

Incorrect. Our intelligence services have foiled a number of plots - I still have a makeshift gas mask in case of a poison gas attack on the Tube, which was threatened but never occured. We also have stepped up profiling at airports.

I am more concerned about terrorists coming from places like France. The ones that are living here are likely being monitored. We have no such reassurance about ones say, from Paris.

To be honest, we're "trained" for this - we've been dealing with suspect packages which might be bombs for as long as I can remember - the IRA has "prepared" us for living with terrorism.
