Muslim cleric talks of No 10 suicide attacks

ITV News has been given exclusive access to a tape recording in which a radical Muslim cleric talks about flying a plane into Downing Street.
Shiekh Omar Bakri Mohammed - who is based in Britain - talks of suicide bombings and says that an attack on No 10 would be reconcilable with the Muslim faith.
He also claims that missions of "self sacrifice" and "martyrdom" would be welcomed by Allah.
It is a statement that will horrify and disgust people across Britain, but he made these statements without any fear of prosecution.
On the tape he was heard to say: "You want to call us extremist, yes I am extreme.
"Somebody he fly aeroplane and he decide to fly the aeroplane over 10 Downing Street.... It's another self-sacrifice operation...
"What people call suicide operations they mean somebody he wear explosives or he carries explosives and he go and he blow it in the building with the people...
"Martyrdom is what you want.
"Make sure you have nothing left behind you to think about or cry for and fight in the name of Allah."

Why does it seem that these folks can do and say anything and get away with it?

It will only horrify and disgust a handful of Britains (like FReeper Mad Ivan) and just make Blair go "tisk, tisk." I have yet to see the British government do anything concrete about their "diverse" fellow Britains in regards to this sort of threatening garbage. Too bad the Shiek ain't Irish. More attention would be paid.
Hope I'm wrong about this, but I think the Brits need to do some serious housecleaning and get most of these cretins off the public dole...
Why don't they go after these clowns the way they used to go after the IRA scum?

I'm thinking the mindset of most British is about where America's mindset was in August 2001. God forbid there is a 9/11 event in the UK, but if there is their outlook will be about like ours is now.
Incorrect. Our intelligence services have foiled a number of plots - I still have a makeshift gas mask in case of a poison gas attack on the Tube, which was threatened but never occured. We also have stepped up profiling at airports.

I am more concerned about terrorists coming from places like France. The ones that are living here are likely being monitored. We have no such reassurance about ones say, from Paris.

So the government and security serviefs are on guard. Are the average folks on the street? That's my point.
To be honest, we're "trained" for this - we've been dealing with suspect packages which might be bombs for as long as I can remember - the IRA has "prepared" us for living with terrorism.
