The USS Jimmy Carter enters the Navy's fleet as the most heavily armed submarine ever built, and as the last of the Seawolf class of attack subs that the Pentagon ordered during the Cold War's final years.
The $3.2 billion Jimmy Carter will be commissioned Saturday, signaling the end of an era in submarining and more uncertain times for the multibillion-dollar industry.

My father just brought up the point that
The Democrats were constantly calling Ronald Regan stupid during his term. But Jimmy Carter- that man was so smart.

Did the Navy run out of names or something? The Navy isn't stupid, good public relations are part of the game. They named the Carter and the Truman during Democrat administrations. A Republican comes in and bingo, we suddenly have a USS George H.W. Bush. Now that every second-rate president gets his own ship then the next Democrat president will preside over the building and launching of USS William Clinton. Bank on that.

I think it's disgraceful that this nation would name any military vessel after the weakest President in history. It's like naming a weightlifting gym after Woody Allen.

Let's get the important stuff on the table.
The $3.2 billion Jimmy Carter will be commissioned Saturday, signaling the end of an era in submarining and more uncertain times for the multibillion-dollar industry.
This statement is garbage. The Virginia class has ended the "uncertain times" for the sumbmarine industry. EB in Quonset/Groton have 3 brand new orders. The uncertain time was the Seawolf period.
The ever accurate ABC network.
