Official announcement of Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. (Satire)

Andres Mauel Lopez Obrador:

Yes. I know that you haven't heard from me in quite a while. After all, it is hard to keep in touch with my loyal, working class supporters when the filthy, plutocratic scum who have usurped power and are intent on keeping the "PEOPLE'S REVOLUTION" down bring their weight to bear against a proletarian hero such as myself.

Many of you may have heard of Interior Minister Santiago Creel, the lackey of Coca-Cola-slurping, American stooge Vincente Fox, and his persistent attempts to suppress the "THE PEOPLE'S REVOLUTION"; the case broguht against me is nothing more than a collection of spurious charges that are completely lacking in merit. Yes, I may have helped build a hospital access road through methods that were not, technically speaking, "legal." Yes, my chief political consultant was caught red-handed accepting bribes from contractors seeking work in Mexico City, D.F., the municipality which I oversee.

This looks very bad, I grant you. However, do not forget that I am still fighting for the "PEOPLE'S REVOLUTION!" Means and methods are secondary to providing for my constituents and feathering my own-NO! What I mean to say is, "you are my last, best hope."

Take to the streets, to demand that they do not prosecute me, a man who will combine the disastrous socialist policies of President Cardenas, with the outright corruption and graft of President Carlos Salinas.

I will stand steadfastly with my brethren, Comrade Castro, Comrade Chavez, and Comrade Luis Inacio De Silva, also known as "Lula", which-despite having a fairy name-is okay in my book!

We will enact the...PEOPLE'S REVOLUTION!

Buenos Tardes.

What can I tell ya?

I was completing this thread at four in the morning!

I had, in essence, "crossed the Rubicon", by that point in time.
