Well I'll just have to respectfully disagree. Cause I don't see a damn difference between raising revenue with a tax increase and being a coward and raising it on the backs of people who speed. This money goes directly into the highway fund.

What you are saying is that the fines are dedicated to specific accounts.

Many people like that ~ it's like the Baptist custom of taking several collections on Sunday for different purposes.

Over in the Christian church, there's one pot, one collection. Folks want the church leadership to lead and make those spending decisions in that bunch. That's why they're not Baptists.

Highway funding is the same sort of thing. Many laws in this country dedicate specific revenue streams to specific uses. One popular technique is to route all the lottery profits to the schools (for example).

Different places do it differently. I'd suggest that you do what the Christian Church and Baptist Church members do when they decide they don't like what's going on in their respective collections ~ THEY CHANGE CHURCHES.

A little research on the net and I think you could find a state or two without dedicated revenues for highways.
