A Northern Virginia anti-gun "Republican" legislator, Dave Albo, is trying to raise taxes through the back door on Virginians. And guess why he's doing it? To fill his own pockets! He wants to increase the fines for speeders and other serious traffic offense by hundreds of dollars. Why? I guess he wants to increase the size of the nanny state exponetially. The Virginia Club for Growth is all over it:
"On a personal level, for Del. Albo to be sponsoring such a bill also sets a terrible precedent. In proposing this legislation Albo is facing an apparent, if not actual, conflict of interest.
You see, Albo makes his living as an attorney representing traffic violators in court. A cynic could, therefore, conclude that Albos sole motivation in raising the fines and penalties imposed on traffic offenders is to ensure that more of them would seek attorneys to represent them in traffic court." - The Virginia Club for Growth
So Albo is raising taxes to line his pockets? And not even in an honest way...at least the liberals and socialists on the other side come out and say "I'm raising taxes". Albo hides behind state troopers who will now be roaming our streets looking for government revenue to feed into more pork and programs. WTF???
Regards, Ben Sykes
ROFLMPJO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ain't no guy, dearie.
lol... can you say "gullable"?
our congress critters excell at getting around the Constitution, that is why the bill is worded that way... it's called blackmail or coersion in the real world. they userp State's rights by making noncomplience with this Fed Bill nearly impossible. Montana juat passed their own DL Bill the other day that pretty well said "screw the Fed NDL coersion". and in doing so, the legal Mt residences will be not be able to use their state DL for ID at airports etc. looks like Mt has some congress critters that still have a pair.
bensykes and gunsgodandglory look like Werkheiser trolls to me.
Werkheiser is a tough opponent, and his supporters would like nothing more than to split the conservatives. They think they'll have a better chance in November if Albo is hurt by interparty squabbles.
If you have a problem with ANY legislation that Del. Albo has voted on, please contact him and ask about it. I am sure that he'll be happy to explain it.
So, please bear with me while I go through this period of lack of imagination!
You gotta' remember, we got commies, democrats and pederasts using that road and they think they don't have to be nice to anybody, so that part's out of the equation (unless, of course, your're a pederast, and none of you guys do that do you, hunh?)
seems to me your imagination is running overboard. you've bought the lie that half the population is a bunch of cop killing, drug selling, law hating nut jobs (oh, and terrorist!). i dissagree. London recently cured a downtown traffic congestion problem by taking out the stop signs and lights on the busiest intersections.... guess what happened? it worked. traffic moved along better... people became more courtious to other drivers - knowing that was the key in making it work.
Americans are not the evil lawbreaking creeps you think they are. and more laws only EFFECT those who obey them. law breakers are lawbreakers... it doesn't make a hoot how many laws they pass to stop criminals - as they are the ones who don't obey them. it's common sense. more laws and more of a police state make honest law abiding citizens have less and less respect for their lawmakers and the enforcers. is that what you want?
i'll give you an example - in SD you must have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. i refuse to let the state have information on the guns i want to own,(because i no longer trust them and i believe they will use this information in the future to confiscate them as they did in NY)so i have no permit to carry. so i do not carry a weapon off my own property(ie i do not break the law). as a small built woman and law abiding citizen, i believe the State has INFRINGED on my RIGHT to keep and BEAR arms by this "permit" law, and thus protect myself and family. the very bad people that i want to protect myself against (rapist, murderers, kidnappers, muggers etc) have NO respect for the LAW (obviously - because all those things are already against the law) so they DO carry guns if they feel like it without a permit. so who does this law infringe upon? it always and ONLY infringes on the law abiding citizen. that's common sense.
since when was it the gvt's job to solve the problem of people not being being "nice"? maybe part of the reason people are no longer so "nice" is because they are sick and tired of worrying if they just spit on the sidwalk they might get hauled into court.
the key to driving safely is taught in drivers ed or by any half smart parent - defensive driving. sounds to me like you need to stop being so afraid of every little percieved boogey man and stop helping the law makers to take advantage of this "fear" (that they have created and feed to the public) to pass even more laws. it's ridiculous...
At the same time it merges with the Beltway, Springfield Bypass and Old Keene Mill/Franconia road.
In parts it is 5 different layers deep with overpasses.
Your proposal to simply remove the signs would probably cause some problems.
I have a real problem with people in this immediate area running redlights. They are a risk to everyone else's life and limb. Absent having some sort of open season, maybe we could simply hire professional hunters. I dunno!
BTW, we have "open carry" here in Virginia. It is hardly the police state you folks are running out there in the Dakotas.
yes, i believe your state is the only one with open carry; except Alaska who has either passed or is the proccess of passing a similiar bill. i doubt you will hold on to it much longer... i just don't have that much faith in congress critters. but i hope i'm wrong.
sounds to me like an engineering or design problem. maybe a drop gate like at RR crossings would be a better investment rather than more laws? or a by pass? myself, i would move from that sort of traffic, but that is not an option for everyone of course.
maybe the community should come together and hire their OWN expert on how best to deal with the congestion.... they would only have the motive of sincerly wanting the most efficiant solution ... unlike the power mad and currupt "public servants" who only seem interested in lining their own pockets and controling the useful tax paying idiots.
maybe i'm wrong.. maybe the congress critters there and the LE and the governor and the mayor etc etc will all volunteer to take a cut in pay to help fund a working group to solve the problem..
The cameras have been placed for the most part at difficult interchanges where there are hundreds of redlight runners per day. I suppose you could bring in heavily armed police and take charge of these places ~ but then you get the mealy-mouthed appeasers in here who want to coddle the criminal element out there bellyaching about wasting public money on a bunch of cops standing around like a road crew.
In the meantime, "open carry" is a risk the redlight runners will face now that public interest in the problem has been heighted with the prospect of Virginia abandoning enforcement. I give it a week after the law takes effect before the first criminal redlight runner encounters his just desserts.
