"City Slickers," also revealed that ABC News anchor Sam Donaldson, owner of a sheep and angora ranch in New Mexico, has received $97,000 in wool and mohair subsidy payments over the last two years. Donaldson lives in McLean, Virginia just outside Washington, D.C.
NJ, The Garden PAVED State.
Subsidies? Firgitaboutit.
Before Christie Whitman became Governor of New Jersey, she was getting farm assessment allowing extremely low property taxes on her estate because she harvested firewood to sell.

Thanks for the reminder. Isn't she still getting it? I know there is some kind of formula they use to figure out how many acres of their "estate" they must use in order to qualify as a "working" farm.
Did you hear about that truck that had over 5.3 million in the cab? It has been on the radio and I posted it this morning.
Money went right into the rat hole (general fund).
Even though it is 'under investigation'.
I can't help but wonder if that was a deposit that got around the wire transfer and explaination of monies.
In some cases, more than one person received a subsidy for the same piece of land.
This would not be unusual if it was crop shared.
Yeah? I have a garden. Can I do that too?
I bet Codey is smiling, he can buy a lot of votes with that money.
I wonder who left the truck there for 2 days. In's no wonder the police went to investigate.
That's pretty funny, I believe within Passaic county there are 3 active farms left. All the old farming families moved to south Jersey or Upstate New York, depending what they grow.
The way to fix the system would be to limit payments to people who actually live on the land they are receiving payments for. >>
The way to fix the system is to abolish farm subsidies and corporate welfare, tax loopholes, the dept. of commerce, the dept. of education
You still think he is running? I kind of agree with Old Friend. He will do the dirty work, Corzine will run, promise to fix all the evils, get into office, appoint committees and busy work to investigate, and he will smile.
I'm sure he will run for State Senate again and remain as Senate President. He can use that "extra" state money in his legislative district and award grants to the right people as Sharpe James does in his district and with the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) money the city receives.
Amazing amounts of nothing in New Jersey if you get off the turnpike.... The Shawangunks and the Pine Barrens...
I own 230 acres in upstate NY - can I get a check?
No mas! Viva Bush!
It is like an elite welfare system.
If they spent half the energy doing the RIGHT thing....
Instead, they are high status criminals skirting the system.
