Sounds like Chirac is trying to get even with Israel because (last year) they issued a warning to Israeli travellers in France to be wary of violent anti-Semitic incidents.

I used to joke about my boycott of french products. Given a choice of wines at a friend's house, I'd chuckle and say "I'm drinkin' any of that french stuff!"
I no longer joke. I no longer chuckle. I now "explain" to people what a hateful country france is. I explain that buying french wines is tantamount to buying Nazi exports.
It's the only country whose name I will not capitalize. They are swine.
