I guess its ok if you have no family, no kids, no friends, no dates and never have to carry a load bigger than what you could fit on a bicycle.
I think it probably wasn't such a good idea for them to paint the words "I am a dweeb" on the door -- oh, wait. Now that I look a second time, it appears they didn't do that. But when I first looked, that's definitely the message I got about anyone who would be caught dead driving this vehicle.
Its pretty much a joke there as well except for the urban left.
My friend and his wife can do a full shopping trip in theirs. From experience, I can say it easily fits four cases of German beer, and that's important, right?
I think for American driving the "smart" only makes sense if it's so cheap to own and operate that most people could afford one as a second car.
I would use this as a daily drive to work car, and keep my other car for long trips, shopping, double dates etc., but not if the "smart" cost $10000+ to buy and also doubled my annual licensing and insurance costs.
Some of you people are all about looks.
