Bird Flu May Kill Millions of People
A bird flu that is wide spread among Asian bird, and very lethal to humans, may acquire the ability to spread human to human. If this happens we may get a pandemic (world wide epidemic) that could kill between 2 million and 100 million people worldwide. Some cases of contagion from human to human have already been recorded.
A flu in 1918 that may have been similar killed between 20 million and 50 million people. Major flu pandemics occur roughly every 20 years, and the last one was in 1968, so it could be argued that we are overdue.

Recently it was reported in Sweden that some Swedish doctors have stockpiled Tamilfu at home for themselves and their families. * * *

Bird flu spreads like crazy among BIRDS,but there have been VERY FEW cases of bird-to-human transmission, and even fewer cases of human-to human transmission.
The real worry-voiced well over a year ago-was that bird flu would enter pigs-(Oriental farmers have an unfortunate habit of feeding dead chickens to the pigs,and often keep their flocks and pigsties close together)-and mutate enough to affect humans.
I just heard Michael Savage sounding the alarm on this very same thing earlier this week.
If this bird flu mutates into a human strain, millions worldwide could die?

You are a little behind the bad news curve. The virus has already mutated. There is a different form of the virus in Korea that WHO is just starting to investigate. Nearly 33% of all cases in Asia have been transferred by human-to-human contact. Yesterday, it was reported that bird flu is linked with human encephalitis. The symptoms of bird flu are not 'flu-like.' Victims may only have terrible cramps, bloody diarrehia, then go into a coma and die. The fatality rate is 73%.
Not to worry, our immigration and border police will stop them from entering the US. /sarcasm
One of the cases I read about where a human contracted the bird flu involved a child who was living in a room that essentially served as a chicken coop.
And there's no way Sweden sold out all its supplies. That could never happen in Sweden. Sweden is perfect and plans perfectly. A socialist guy I work with whose roots are from Sweden has made this absolute truth perfectly clear. So that part of the story is wrong. Sweden will never run out of vaccine.
