http://newmarksdoor.typepad.com/mainblog/cars/index.html Volkswagon has produced a two-passenger concept car that gets 235 mpg. Looks like something from the Jetsons.
Almost every automaker at the recent Tokyo Motor Show displayed good hybrid-electric prototypes, some getting more than 100 mpg. Volkswagen already sells Europeans a 78-mpg, four-seat nonhybrid subcompact and plans a two-seat city car for 2003 that will get 235 mpg (not a typo; VW is even testing a diesel version that gets the equivalent of 282 mpg). When cars are so fuel-frugal, powering them with fuel cells becomes a near-term option using current technology."
Here's pics of the car and its technology. It looks pretty cool http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame.php?file=car.php&carnum=1316
am i incorret in reading that it has 8hp?
"that will get 235 mpg"
I'll buy a dozen of German technology.
Jetsons?...or is it Flintstones?? j/k!
And that will be the last we hear of it......
Does it fly? I want my flying car, NOW!
That car looks so cool.
A diesel car that gets 282 mpg. Thats unbelievable.
Cool.
I wonder how crashworthy it is, though.
The Volkswagen Bobsled.
The car that gets 235 mpg.
I dont think thats a hybrid.
Its 100 percent a gas car.
I hear some of the cars that say they get 55mpg actually get alot less in realworld. I wonder if it's the same for these little 200mpg gasmizers..
Well, my uncle, Roy Bob, he invented this pill that you put in your fuel tank and it gives you 478 miles per gallon of water. They was s'posed to come out with it in 1978, but the gov'mint knew that would throw the econ'my into a nosedive so they just put the ki-bosh on it....
Please note that your wife/date is going to have to sit in the back seat.
This thing is nothing more than a motorcycle encased in a shell.
Why spend a fortune on this when you can buy a cheap car and spend the rest of the money on gas?
Beautiful!
Love it.
Sure, you can get more than 200 mpg, but you'll do a lot of peddling.
So true.
But a diesel version that gets 282mph when in actuality gets 250mph it's a marvelous accomplishment.
This little buggie is kinda cute, but I have images in my mind of giant SUV's crashing it to pieces. Americans are addicted to gas guzzling SUV's as symbols of wealth and quiet power. We roar up and back to our daily appointments chatting away on cell phones with our radios blaring. It's too dangerous out there, Lori. Way too risky.
