Rove to GOP: Don't Grow 'Tired or Timid'
NY Daily News ^ | February 18, 2005 | DEB RIECHMANN

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Karl Rove, President Bush's top political strategist, on Thursday pronounced conservatism the "dominant political creed in America" and coached fellow conservatives on how to support his boss.

"The next time one of your smartypants liberal friends says to you, `Well, he didn't have a mandate,' you tell him of this delicious fact: This president got a higher percentage of the vote than any Democratic candidate for president since 1964," Rove said.

-snip-

Rove told a gathering at the Conservative Political Action Conference that Bush is committed to the members' ideas of fostering morality and values, including protecting the culture of life for every human person - a goal that generated applause from the crowd at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

"Conservatism is the dominant political creed in America," Rove said, adding that more needed to be done.

He also said the administration was committed to spreading democracy across the Middle East and reforming and modernizing Social Security, health care, public education and the tax code.

-snip-

Another member of the Bush administration, Vice President Cheney, dropped by Thursday evening to thank the conservatives for their political support and he promise the administration would continue to pursue consistent economic and foreign policies.

-snip-

Members of Congress are debating whether Social Security taxes for the wealthiest Americans should be increased, but Cheney seemed to suggest that was not an option.

"We cannot tax our way out of this problem," Cheney said to cheers from some of the administration's core supporters at the CPAC meeting. "We must not increase payroll taxes on American workers. Higher taxes would only buy time and then future Congresses would need to come back and raise taxes again and again on our children and grandchildren."

I agree. The Republican Party needs to stay fired up.....and elected Republican officials need to stay tough.

Rove is right to send out the charge.

There are many on the Republican side that are too willing to give in after an election is over.

Sometimes I think the GOP slogan should be...
"We Waste Mandates"

"...Rove recalled that his uncle had done several tours of duty in Vietnam.
I've never been able to think of Colonel Verhi as somebody who would have
'raped and pillaged in a manner reminiscent of Genghis Khan,'"
a reference to Kerry's 1971 Senate testimony where he accused Vietnam veterans

Karl Rove addressed the 3rd question.

Can anyone name 1 so called MAIN Stream Right Wing Media
personality

(we know Russert on tv and Imus on radio from the Left have)

that has asked,

in 2005,

these questions?

"Asked Kerry when he will sign Form 180.

Or why Kerry is still in the US Senate.
This is in violation of
U.S. Constitution Amendment 14 Sec 3

Or when Kerry will set the record straight
on his false testimony in April 71"

BUT he's still attacking President Bush in '05

The best way to keep repubs fired up is to contact your states repub representatives. It doesn't matter if you live in their district - you live in their STATE.

Letters, emails, faxes, you name it - keep them coming. We need to let our reps know that we expect them to support the conservative agenda.

Wanna send DU into a chaotic, hand-wringing tizzy? I mean, even more than normal? Post that you read that Rove has vowed to stick around after Bush and get a Republican President elected in 2008. They fear NOBODY like they fear Rove over there.

I agree. I don't think Rove is going to go anywhere anytime soon after President Bush finishes his second term. Rove may stick around and advise the next Republican candidate for 2008.

Note to Rove: We're not the world's policemen, Rove. Our Constitution says to let our foreign involvement be rare. The founders are right.

Now, how about this little item:

"A couple of weeks ago, at a private gathering, Karl Rove walked up to a Republican member of Congress who has publicly criticized the Bush amnesty plan, and said, "You know what your problem is? You just don't like all those little brown people coming into the country."

I don't trust this guy. I have to question why so many Austrians of foreign birth have managed to rise to such places of influence in our nation.

Madeline Albright, Karl Rove, Arnold Swartzenegger, Henry Kissinger (technically a German) and there is one more whose name just will not come to me.

Are there no American citizens of honor and ability who could fulfill these rolls? We know there are. So why are these people seated in the halls of power? Why are they influencing us with a "global" vision?

Coming from Rove this could be a very positive sign.

While he is obviously good at his job, and loyal to the President, I hadn't been sold on him being a solid conservative.
