It is unlikely that she currently needs the feeding tube. She should be evaluated by an Ear Nose and Throat specialist, and have a new swallowing exam.

What if Jeb Bush were to order that somebody be sent to the hospital to supervise oral feeding of Terri when the tube is removed? There is no statute authorizing the refusal of oral food and hydration, and refusal to allow it could be the basis for an immediate removal of Terri from Michael's control. Although Michael could probably immediately file suit to have Terri returned, I don't think it would take very long for Jeb Bush to produce clear and compelling evidence that Terri's condition has been wilfully misrepresented.
