CLEARWATER, Fla. (Reuters) - The parents of a brain-damaged Florida woman at the center of a right-to-die battle said on Thursday they would ask a court to order new medical tests before she is allowed to die.

Robert Schindler, the father of Theresa "Terri" Schiavo, said the tests should be done because of a recent study that found patients with brain damage may be more aware of their surroundings than doctors previously thought.

That could be a benefit later, but I think everything they do right now is geared toward stopping Terri's execution.

This request is setting up a massive medical malpractice and wrongful death lawsuit against the hospital if she's murdered due to their advice.

Terri hasn't been treated that kindly for more than a dozen years. She has been left to rot in a nursing home with strict orders that she receive no care, and now for the last 5 years, a hospice, a place where they are expected to die.

bttt. Terri's parents reported that her responses yesterday seemed to indicate that she was delighted they came to visit her.

Thanks for the other links about the awareness of surroundings. And, Terri could benefit from music therapy. Music therapy often triggers restoration of memory.

With all the advances in modern medicine, it is absolutely barbaric to deny a woman tests, proper care and therapy and a chance to seek out some of what modern medicine has to offer. And, that doesn't mean gobs of money either.

Terri is denied everything. I call it Florida going medieval on her.

Who is discerning the worth of these threads? Is there an infiltrator requesting the placement change of Terri threads? I hope not.
