Churchill was required to sign an oath pledging to "support the constitutions of the United States and Colorado" as a condition of employment, the university has not been able to find a signed copy
As a land-grant university (and I assume UC is) and considering that the program under which Churchill was hired was probably a Federally funded program, his signing an oath would have been automatic and mandatory.
I'm beginning to wonder whether Churchill has a silent history of strong-arming and intimidating and bullying to get his tenure. He seemed to have had the propensity, based on some of the AIM activities, etc.

The difference is that Jesse is demonstrably at least part black, whereas Churchill doesn't meet the criteria as a true indian - even part.
