Patriots Pro Bowl linebacker Tedy Bruschi was hospitalized yesterday afternoon and kept overnight to determine the cause of headaches.

"After suffering from headaches earlier today, Tedy Bruschi was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston," the Patriots said in a statement. "He is in good condition and will be held for further evaluations. The Bruschi family appreciates everyone's concern, but requests that you respect their privacy at this time."

The "stroke-like" symptoms doesn't sound good. Tedy seems like a great guy (and very cute!) He's also pretty young with a young family....

My sister tutored him at U of A, and all they say about him is true. He is truly a nice guy and only 31.

do you mind pinging your prayer list? I've never asked for it before, but a good guy with 2 small boys could use it!

Thanks

I don't much like the Patriots, but I like Bruschi. He's my favorite player on that team.

The film of him playing with his young sons on the field before the Superbowl was heartwarming.

My thoughts and prayers are with Tedy and his family.

I hope those "further tests" include an MRI of his head and neck areas. That's the trouble with soft-tissue injuries to the brain and spinal cord. CAT may not pick them up, but the enhanced contrast of MRI will. Sometimes you have injuries like these but don't know it until later. One of my uncles passed away from a hematoma that came on a few days after falling from a ladder. He said he felt fine and everything was normal up until a few minutes before it hit him. Please, Tedy, for the sake of your loved ones as well as yourself, play this one on the safe side.

Bruschi is the very coolest of the Patriots, and not just because of what he does on the field. There are many who can attest to that.

Perhaps he had a concussion. Stroke like symptoms sounds like a media hype.

Massachusetts General is one of the finest hospitals in the world.

I don't know too much about the updates (I live in D.C.), but I guess they are reporting that he has 2 of the 3 symptoms related to a stroke, numbness on one side and vision problems.

Anyone who has access to local NE news, please keep me updated!

UPDATE:

Bruschi broke blood vessel in head
By Ron Borges, Globe Staff | February 17, 2005

Tedy Bruschi will remain in Massachusetts General Hospital while he undergoes more tests after suffering a broken blood vessel in his head, a Patriots team source told the Globe.

Bruschi is "sitting up in bed'' and talking, the source said.

The Patriots' Pro Bowl linebacker was admitted to the hospital Wednesday after suffering from persistent headaches and partial paralysis. The paralysis is now gone.

A Patriots spokesman said Wednesday night that Bruschi was in "good condition.''
