There is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy.25 in rural Iowa. For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing it's character many times. A few months back, the rock received it's latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed. It's quite an impressive sight. Scroll down and check out the multiple photos (all angles) of the rock. It seems the flag was draped over the rock, but it's not. It's actually painted on the rock too.
Here's the artist Ray "Bubba" Sorensen.
Directions to the Freedom*Rock
Approx. 37 miles west of Des Moines on Highway 25 approx. 1 mile south of Interstate 80 (exit 86) & 12 miles north of Greenfield, Iowa.

You misunderstand what I was saying. The DM Register is picky about using their stuff.
I know Bubba. He is a great young American. My husband and I donate to him for his art work.
Thank you for posting it.

He knows about FR. It's tradition for him to change it each May for Memorial Day.
He paints fabulous murals on buildings, too.

Thanks for the clarification grandma. My original source was the Sorenson family web page (probably designed by Bubba). His parents are to be commended for the character building they nurtured in their son, and likely all their children. A wonderful American family.

Yeah, it won't be long before some scumbag liberal comes along and:
1) paints his own propoganist words over these wonderful pictures OR
2) works with the ACLU to file a lawsuit against the beach community, saying he's being forced to view objectionable material

A few years ago someone painted over it. I don't even remember what it was but anyway it caused a huge firestorm and one of our local extremely patriotic Viet Nam vets looked up the new artist and promptly punched him in the face.
It cost John some bucks but The Rock has remained untouched since.
