Jim Moron needs to ban guns again. He must have beaten up women again and is scared the next one may have a gun.

Here we go again - trying to make laws to solve problems that don't exist.
How many crimes were committed with a .50 cal rifle in the last 20 years?
Probably less than Ted Kennedy has committed in the last year.....
And a BUNCH less than the Clintons have committed in the last month (speculation).

These guns are so expensive, like a $500 permit would stop someone from getting it.. If you have $5000-$8000 to spend on a rifle and that shoots ammo that costs about $4-$5 a shot....
Totally ridiculous!

More of the same anti-freedom lies.

"Loose lips sink ships." Why in the hell is that below the posting button on my account? Oh yeah, they should go ahead and make a 49.5 caliber. Watch those Dems squirm.

this bill will go nowhere...don't worry about it.

Yeah, gangbangers often cruise neighbourhoods with large, expensive rifles that require exotic, expensive ammo. What a bunch of clueless tools.

While they're at it you'd think they would ban the shoulder-fired rodent rocket. The squirrels are out of control in my neck of the woods.

What I do when I meet an "anti-gunner," I take them to the trap range. And challenge the twerp(s), some of whom are in their 40s, and see if they can smoke a few dozen clays.
After that, they're hooked!!!
And I'm a lousy shot! (Never 25 for 25 after all these years).

they should go ahead and make a 49.5 caliber The .50BMG slug is slightly less than 50 caliber, and California's ban... passed last year... is so tightly drawn that a 50 caliber rifle that was actually 50 caliber wouldn't be covered.

They'll be a run on these things when word of this bill gets out. You can't pay for advertising like this.

I know. I forgot to add the /sarcasm line at the end. That was the point that I was trying to convey. Even if someone steals one of these guns, the ammunition is not as easy to find as .22 ammo. Where I live, you have to go to specialty gun stores to find .50BMG ammo. You also pay specialty prices for it.

The rats think they are onto another big scary non-issue they can frighten the sheeple with and exploit in their ultimate goal of destroying the Second Ammendment and the entire Bill of Rights. The 50 Caliber is the "assault weapon" for the new millenium.
It didn't work for "assault weapons", and, ultimately, it won't work for the 50. However, we need to make damn sure they learn this is a losing issue for them before they pass this abomination instead of after like on the AWB. Note this bastard legislation specifically does not include a "sunset clause", which means the rats learned the wrong lesson from the AWB.
Contact your reps today. Contact them tomorrow. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
Keep up the pressure. Kill this thing before it even pokes its ugly head out of commitee.

As I'm reading this, it's actually the support ("tripod") that is banned. This bill seems to define "sniper rifle" as one that has some sort of support other than human. Ergo, this bill bans tripods.
Like most on this forum, I'm at a loss to find an example of a .50 being used in a crime. Malvo and Mohammed used a .223 for his sniper killings as I recall.
Would this also ban muzzleloader 50's as well?
Like any other gun that the Left tries to ban, there are already enough in circulation that a law banning sales is totally ineffective. The only law that is effective is one banning possession, and that's only effective if the police conduct Iraq-style house-to-house weapons searches.
