My problem isn't so much with what Hannity said as it is with why he said it.

To single out this forum with ignorant and derogatory characterizations simply in an effort to increase participation within his own forum is as cheap and low a tactic as there is.

The slime-factor is off the charts.

I'm not denying that. The difference is, Hannity did it in an attempt to attract people to his forum. ("Don't go to that place. They're a bunch of crazy fringe types. Come to my place. It's better.")

There was also the disingenuousness of Hannity's claims today. I would think that any reputable reporter, radio host, or television host who commented in any way on Ra^thergate would have been to Free Republic within the last two years.

That said, there are kooks everywhere. (Some probably even consider me one on occasion. I'm a member of that fringe group that hates small kitchens!) No idea how Hannity thinks his Forum is going to be immune from them.

Rush has always recognized political sites, such as ours, as a threat to him. But, he has always handled it by being amusing, as in his pic of us Freepers on his site. He has neither courted us or vilified us.

Sean, on the other hand, slapped us with an open hand. If he feels threatened by blogs and websites such as ours and hopes to do the same on his website, then he made a big mistake today.

Rush bashes tongue in cheek...like when he posted a composite of what a Freeper looks like. To overreact to Rush is akin to believing Walter Williams really gives his wife a new iron on her birthday.
