NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Kid Rock was arrested Wednesday by Nashville police who are investigating a report that he punched a disc jockey at an adult entertainment club.
Kid Rock was brought before Night Court Commissioner Howard Taradash early Wednesday morning. He is charged with simple assault, a misdemeanor. Taradash set bond at $3,000 and the rapper remained in custody until bail could be posted.
Authorities said Kid Rock was charged after a 3 a.m. altercation at Christie's Cabaret near downtown Nashville.
"Inside the establishment there was a squabble concerning, I guess, the selection of music," Nashville police Sgt. James Smith told reporters. "Again there are no major injuries but an assault did take place."
Television footage from outside the club showed the DJ, identified as Jay Campos, with a red mark on his face and holding his broken eyeglasses.
Kid Rock was among the entertainers who sang at a Tuesday memorial service at Ryman Auditorium for songwriter and promoter Merle Kilgore. The 34-year-old rapper, who has performed with several Nashville music figures including Hank Williams Jr., strummed a guitar and sang "I Saw the Light."
Born Bob Ritchie, Kid Rock was a Detroit-area hip-hop DJ when he broke through with 1998's "Devil Without a Cause," which successfully married hard rock beats with rap lyrics.

If the disc jockey was playing "Sugar, Sugar", it was justifiable.

And the American flag is not supposed to be used for a clothing item. Many hippies wearing it for patches on their jeans, especially in the butt, met with grief when a wandering Jarhead spotted it. My father, a WW2 vet, PERSONALLY threatened a few hippies in my presence when I was a youngster.
You can love the flag without wearing it.

Now if he was drunk and brawling with Rosie O'Donnell and a couple of her butch buddies in the back parking lot I would find it interesting.

He is evolving in ways I would not have expected...don't pay much to him...if it's not bluegrass or celtic, and done in the last 5 years, I probably haven't heard it...

Also I like his song Jackson Mississippi. If he's okay with hank, he's okay with me.

Here, here.
I also like the fact that he made Jesse James (Monster Garage, West Coast Choppers) his manager when he went to perform for the troops in Iraq so Jesse could go. I saw the footage and the troops loved it.

So he made a mistake with the flag give him a break.. You know, my mom told me a story about how we had a few hippies drive into town from California when she was a kid. I guess they were suppose to be staying for a couple of weeks. The second the chief of police saw them walking outside, not really doing anything but standing around, he picked them up and threw them in jail for 2 night, then released them and told them to "get the hell out of here and never come back". Needless to say they left and haven't been back since.
That is how hippies should be treated!

Actually he is a very talented guy (albeit sometimes a serious potty mouth). He is also a BIG Bush supporter. I like him because of the support he has given our military and the President. I am not a big fan of his music, yet I am of another (older) generation.
I wonder what the argument was about beyond "a selection of music."
"Punched the guy out" could mean a punch with or without injury (other than the red spot and boken glasses). It could have been a shove which translated to a punch by the time the police arrived.
Sometimes a smartass (potty mouth me) will do all they can to provoke an argument or even an incident. All they are concerned with is pushing the bottons for their own advantage.
Maybe the DJ made a remark or played music derogatory to the President and the War issue. Lots of anti-war songs in my day.
And yes, Kid Rock could be entirely to blame for the entire situation.
Because of his support for the real threats which face us, and especially for the concert he gave to the survivors and families of the USS Cole, I will reserve any judgement.
And as far as the flag thing goes at the Super Bowl..I was over that a long time ago. There is flag protocol and I in no way approve of using the flag disrespectfully. I choose believe wearing that flag thing was meant to show support for our country, the President and the War on Terror and all of those who have lost their lives in this war. Not too many public figures would do that. Sometimes you must look past the obvious into the heart.

I don't even listen to the radio anymore... My CD player was stolen about 2 years ago, and since the selection of new music that was being pushed by nashville is of such low quality, I didn't even bother buying a new one!
Give me bluegrass, give me hank, skynard, merel, strait, gretchen, kid or SOMETHING country.. DON'T tell me i have to listen to 'kieth urban' or 'timmy mccgraw'.. i went SKYYYYYYYYYYYYYY DIVINNNNNNN' i went rocky mountin CLIMBINNNNN. That is mind numbing trash.

Kid Rock didn't have that kind of money on him?
I can see you've never been at a strip bar when 3 am rolls around. No matter how much you came in with, by that hour, you're broke. (At least that's always been my experience)
