NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Kid Rock was arrested Wednesday by Nashville police who are investigating a report that he punched a disc jockey at an adult entertainment club.
Kid Rock was brought before Night Court Commissioner Howard Taradash early Wednesday morning. He is charged with simple assault, a misdemeanor. Taradash set bond at $3,000 and the rapper remained in custody until bail could be posted.
Authorities said Kid Rock was charged after a 3 a.m. altercation at Christie's Cabaret near downtown Nashville.
"Inside the establishment there was a squabble concerning, I guess, the selection of music," Nashville police Sgt. James Smith told reporters. "Again there are no major injuries but an assault did take place."
Television footage from outside the club showed the DJ, identified as Jay Campos, with a red mark on his face and holding his broken eyeglasses.
Kid Rock was among the entertainers who sang at a Tuesday memorial service at Ryman Auditorium for songwriter and promoter Merle Kilgore. The 34-year-old rapper, who has performed with several Nashville music figures including Hank Williams Jr., strummed a guitar and sang "I Saw the Light."
Born Bob Ritchie, Kid Rock was a Detroit-area hip-hop DJ when he broke through with 1998's "Devil Without a Cause," which successfully married hard rock beats with rap lyrics.
You can take the po' white trash out of the trailer park, but...
I don't care if he likes Pres Bush and plays for the troops, there is just something creepy about this idiot.
This is where the center and the extreme right clash. Both sides have points, one side giving the benefit doubt the other cracks the whip. He sure has put himself in a peculiar position I'd say. I like him, I have been to his concerts and people of all ages over 18 show up and we have a good time. He can be crude but very hard core USA at the same time.
I loved that movie. My sons watched it over and over, so finally I gave in.
Since he was at a strip club, that is stating the obvious.

Hmmm.... Based on the current grooming habits of most strippers, I imagine a fan of big bush would be unhappy in most strip clubs.
Fox reported he was with another "big name celebrity" who was not named. I suspect he and someone (Hank, Jr. perhaps) went out to give ol' Merle Kilgore a proper wake after his funeral yesterday and he got drunk and out of hand.
He probably punched the DJ for not playing "Ring of Fire" (co-written by Kilgore). Which would be an amusing song in a strip club.
I agree with this part.
