If you watch a lot of cable television, you've probably seen the ads, especially late at night or early in the morning. The "Girls Gone Wild" videos promise to show you coeds behaving badly on the beach during Spring Break or getting down and dirty at Mardi Gras. The formula is simple: find a group of nubile young things drunk out of their heads and induce them to pull up their T-shirts or pull down their shorts and expose themselves to anyone willing to fork over $19.95 for the privilege. The most recent incarnation features gangster rapper Snoop Dogg hawking fresh, young flesh.
Call me old-fashioned, but I just can't imagine what these girls were thinking when they agreed to "show off their assets," as one knock-off video boasts. These young women aren't pros -- they are not part of the pornographic underworld -- but ordinary teens and twenty-somethings who one day will be wives and mothers. One young girl, who was 17 at the time she allowed herself to be photographed topless, has already sued the producers of "The Guy Game," a video game featuring females in various stages of undress. Her suit claims she did not give a "valid or enforceable consent or release" for photos to be used by the video game makers. "Plaintiff is still a teenager and wishes to attend college, develop her career and be active in her community and church." Good luck.
What is most shocking about this phenomenon is that we're not all that shocked by it. Modesty used to be considered a natural female attribute. No more. Just take a look around next time you're at the mall.

They made them democrats.. Worse than losing your modesty.. To be a democrat, you've lost your self respect.. and eventially any respect for anything.. Democrats are drowning in delusion.. and many republicans merely know how to float.. but will die of the moralthermia of bi-partisanship.. a sad story but true..
However it does cleanup the gene pool..
What does THAT have to do with female modesty?
Girls in a Middle America area like the Cincinnati Suburbs dress like porn stars when they go to school. Back in the day (mid 1970's), porn stars were just getting started themselves. I also don't recall "rainbow parties" taking place in the 1970's either -- certainly not at junior high age!
I totally agree with you about "Pretty Woman". What a brilliant idea -- glamorize prostitution. My ex-wife saw nothing wrong with allowing my daughter to see this movie -- when she was FOUR!!
From feminism to Madonna to Pretty Woman to Monica Lewinsky to Britney Spears to Paris Hilton. No wonder many 20-something guys are trolling for older women!
Frankly, I've never had any interest in talking to a another guy about my sex life, and no one has ever talked to me about their sex life.
Except women.
I think its a girl thing.
I graduated HS in '68. We had nude male swimming. I don't know why. Bellyflops were encouraged by the adolescents.
I'm a Southpark fan and the Stupid Spoiled Whore episode is one of the best episodes ever. I love the Lemiwinks end!
I know what you mean!
In the public schools today they let the children know that they are safe from prying of parents, should any girl need an abortion or checked for STDs; they take them without parents knowlege of permission.
They teach them under the guise of "family life" the particulars of perversions. Math and English scores are at an all time low. Gee, I wonder why?
On the other hand, some of the "modesty crusaders" are making it difficult to take the issue seriously when they insist on covering not just genetalia but even elbows. Insisting on Victorian dresses only at this time in our society simple won't cut the mustard. Add to that that some even go so far as to lie and steal to aid their mission, and it's no wonder they aren't taken seriously.
Here's a good example:

Dishonesty is not dignified, either. Modesty needs to be taught again but by those who are believable!

Baggy clothing is a "gangsta" thing. Gang members like the look because it allows them to conceal weapons without it showing. They like non-gangstas adopting the look because it makes it more difficult for the cops to tell who's who
The birth of the feminist movement and undressed women went hand in hand for awhile. Through the mid-seventies, women were going braless, wearing skirts that their underwear stuck out of, and of course, hotpants. Though many of today's fashions are revealing, they aren't like those days.
Today's feminists are a bunch of angry nags that have condoned dressing completely in black pantsuits ever since Anita Hill. Janet Reno basically shut down late night television in late 1993 on the grounds that it had too much sex and violence. Gilbert Gottfried's very risque program on the USA Network was one of the programs to go by the wayside. Next thing you know we had all infomertials for late night TV. The feminists are now the Orwellian "anti-sex" league, except when it involves lesbian sex.
I don't deny that today's young girls dress provocatively, though nothing like in 1971. But the reason they do it is social. Those citing MTV and the teen magazines are entirely correct. But the feminists would have women dressing like men. This ain't about them.
I understand the origin of the baggy clothing for boys. My comment was meant to describe the contrast between how girls are walking school halls, vs how boys are.
Girls are the aggressors these days, and boys are the maligned, in so many ways. Just part of the destruction of the family - the foundation of society.
