I'm sure if this jerk (and jerks like him) ever did marry, it would end up in divorce with the kidsOf course it's always the man's fault isn't it?

"Why buy the cow when the milk's free?"
"No ringy, no thingy."
Women were suppose to refuse ANY sex until marriage. This was natures way of 'civiling' men. Now it's: "5. Girl starts to limit sex. In effect controlling the only good thing in the guy's life. "

This guy could use some Prozac.
Married or not - he is a lonely, miserable guy and will be until he learns humanity and the benefits of sharing his life.

Sounds like this guy was having a bad day. Or maybe a bad life. Hey, what's that old line -- I've been in love with the same wonderful woman for 25 years now. And if my wife ever finds out, she'll kill me. Thank you, you've been a great audience.

This guy is cynical, but I have personally experienced much of what he writes about. He is a little more direct than I would have been...

47, and I'd marry again. I killed the first one with love and I can do it again. :)

Marriage and child raising are just like the Army; you get out of it just what you put into it. It really can be a good experience if the effort is there.
My wife told me to say that. ;^)

My grandfather sat me down and told me to be single for the rest of my life, and to raise my children the same way.
I'll never forget what my grandfather told me about how to select a wife. He said never marry a woman with big hands; it will make your di*k look small.

Is this from a newspaper in Pattaya, Thailand?
It reads like the credo of ever 55 year old Western guy living there.

Guess he wouldn't want to hear the words of Solomon..."He that findeth a wife, findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the Lord" (Prov 18:22)...maybe that's why he had so many.
I feel sorry for the writer, such a cynic. He wrote:
"Very few marriages last nowadays, and even guys older than me are telling me not to even think about it... It's a grossly overrated source of happiness."
Four siblings in our family, we're all still married to our original spouses and our marriages have lasted 30, 25, 25, and 21 years, respectively. And if you asked any of us, I think we'd catagorize our marriages as "happy", not problem free, of course, as life has a way of throwing you curves.
Maybe he just talked to the "wrong" people.

It is possible to portray ANY aspect of life in an unfavorable light. The author of this piece has a set of opinions about married life. His opinions no doubt are based on life experiences [himself or others he has observed]. He has a right to his opinions.
The family is the bedrock of the nation. My opinion, and experience, has been that there is nothing harder than nurturing a good marriage, nothing more important, and nothing more fulfilling. When you find the right person, life can be wonderful. Too many people apparently don't spend the time to find that right person; the most important decision in one's life deserves a lot of time and effort, in order to be sure.
Yes, not every marriage is perfect. But to maintain that the institution of marriage is tainted because sometimes things don't work out is analogous to maintaining that dining is overrated because you may on occasion have a bad meal.

Instead of getting married, just find a woman you don't care for and buy her a house.
