McStain: "I can fix this, like I did campaign finance reform!"
Media Matters is part of an organized effort to shut down conservative voices or perceived conservative voices on the internet. The effort to shut down free (political) speech is highly organized.
So, the guy is going to "fix" local news just like he "fixed" campaign finance reform? As a result of his meddling, more dirty money was introduced into campaigns then ever before.
"If a local candidate wants to be on TV and can't afford advertising, his only hope is to have a freak accident," McCain said
LOL! The side-arms of "McCain-Feingold" emerge!!! rofl.
Mind you; it's a pdf file: www.nvri.org/press/focusgrouprelease8_1_02.pdf
and here: Minorities and Campaign Finance Reform
Well, I'll be ****... Thanks for the link! Wonder whatelse the Maverick has up his sleeve...
I totally agree! Senator McQueeg is really going to go ballistic one of these days, and I hope his fan, Chrissie Matthews, et al., ad nauseaum are there to cover it!
The airways are the property of the people of the United States, however our Imperial Federal Government sets the guidelines to suit their own agendas as to what can be on those airways. What a deal.
McCAin needs to start talking about the left wing bias on NPR - PBS...the whole darn taxpayer, corporate foundation supported behemoth that is simply an arm of the NAtional Democratic Socialist Party.
It's a bad idea to legislate content of internet news organizations. I don't know what McCain is thinking. The monopoly the networks have over the airwaves is a mute point when addressing the internet. This seems like the first strike of washington trying to monkey with the free form of the internet. Once legislators get their paws on internet content that spells the end of free expression.
"Increasing consolidation of the media industry" is leftist code-speak for the rise of conservative media outlets. If you understand this, McCain's position makes perfect sense for him, and you can see that he is once again carrying the water for his pals in the MSM.
I thought the American people owned tha airwaves and we grant permission to broadcasters to use our airwaves - for the broadcasters to gain permission to use our airwaves they have to pay the public back in services - services to be enumerated by Congress.
That is how it has always been - when did that change?
Yes, God knows that channel 6 Eyewitness news has to cover the hot dogcatcher race in disctrict 46.
Funny. Not hard to picture McNutso brandishing a tree limb at the Senate, is it?
Another aspect which may play into the non-coverage of local Congressional races is that redistricting has made so many House seats so safe that once the primary (or party convention) has a winner, the victor is almost a shoo-in in November. A lot of Senate races have one candidate with a comfortable lead come election time, too. Therefore, much of the REAL local political fighting occurs in local county and state legislature races, but many reporters don't want to be bothered going to civic associations and sit through presentations on other things before getting to hear the candidates of interest speak. From what I have seen, the candidates' literature (and increasingly their websites) is how those local candidates get their messages out to the public.
This provides yet more incentives for local news to just repeat what the Presidential candidates were doing.
McCain is an idiot--the content of the local news reflects viewers' preferences and ratings and management's bias.
McCain is a RHINO............we all know it. Hopefully he will be voted OUT by Arizona citizens against a fake.
Here's to a few less years of this socialist in disguise!!
Bump
He is a dangerous man. Always trying to control the flow of political information.
See post 39. I agree with the sentiment of the poster 200%.
The irony is that as long as he was a prisoner of war one would think he would fight to his political death protecting our freedoms instead of protecting his job by limiting our freedom.
As for the control of information....Maybe someone should remind him the Viet Cong controlled the flow of information to him and so many others, yet from what I have read, the POW's managed.
