Not new. They've been a common front.
May have been in cahoots in the Beirut bombing the other day.

2-16-05: LONDON (Reuters) - Israel said on Wednesday arch-foe Iran was just six months away from having the knowledge to build an atomic bomb, as Tehran accused the United States of using satellites "and other tools" to spy on its nuclear sites. Buh-Bye!! Bye now. Buh-bye! Bye! Bye now!

Their 'common front' is going to be face down in the mud.
Unless these guys didn't notice, we've got them surrounded. Iran is ripe for a country wide popular revolution, and Syria is begging for a 'Muammar Qadaffi' style midnight visit by the U.S. Air Force. Even the Europeans are starting to get on board with us. Allah help these two if France decides to play ball with us at the Security Council.

Syria goes first - that's pretty obvious. The question would be whether or not Tehran would tip their hand by responding sooner than they would otherwise prefer.
It is pretty obvious that the next step in the grand strategerie is to roll Syria back out of Lebanon and isolate them in their own little kill zone country. Perhaps this is the impetus for Israel to go once more to the well with respect to the Palis.
Besides, with respect to Syria and Iran, aren't the Kurds in the whey of a link up?

Why? Syria is not threat to us militarily unless they are stupid enough to use Saddam's WMDs (making it a very quick end to them because our official response when WMDs are used is nuke)and Put together with Iran who is at this point surrounded by us on their Afghan, Iraq and water boarders.....
If Iran has a nuke and are stupid enough to use it they might take out a unit somewhere, but they can not take out all those that surround them, they will also meet with a very quick end.
This is a suicide pack at best.

They didn't need to announce their "common front" - everybody already knew.
