The Jeff Gannon story is still bouncing around the Internet, and now there are pictures.
The kind you shouldn't open up in the office.
The X-rated twist has made for a lot of clandestine clicking in a town where Deep Throat conjures images not of a porn star but of a man in a parking garage. But it has also deepened the debate over blogging and the tactics used to drive a conservative reporter from his job as White House correspondent for two Web sites owned by a Republican activist.
In most Beltway melodramas, the resignation ends the story. The problem for Gannon, whose real name is James Dale Guckert, is that he told The Washington Post and CNN's Wolf Blitzer last week that he never launched the Web sites whose provocative names he had registered, such as hotmilitarystud.com. But a Web designer in California said yesterday that he had designed a gay escort site for Gannon and had posted naked pictures of Gannon at the client's request.

It seems to be that the evidence is overwhelming that Guckert/Gannon has not been "framed" but is, in fact, a male prostitute, albeit perhaps a part-time male prostitute. This is not his "private life" but how he chooses to earn a living.
He is no naive teenager, but rather a man in his forties who should be aware of the fury of Democrats and how they will unleash *anything* to destroy someone who visibly attacks their power structure, beliefs and/or representatives. And the victims of their fury do not even have to be conservative Republicans. They can be RINOs or even Democrats.
Remember the case of Willie Logan? He was the Democrat Speaker of the Florida House (when Florida elected officials were Democrats). He took issue with the white plantation mentality of the Democratic Leadership in Fla. and decided to run as a third-party candidate in the gubernatorial race (first race in which Jeb Bush was victorious). Well, Willie Logan was caught in a public park in a sting operation and the Democrats used this to destroy him.
I'm sorry Geckert/Gannon has had his life ruined but when you promote yourself as a male prostitute on the Internet you run that risk.
The only good that can come out of this is if W. foresakes his self-defeating loyalty and cans the ineffectual and embarrassing Scott McClellan. Ari will not return (I asked him myself), but surely there is no shortage of applicants for the position of press secretary who will make the press conferences required viewing again. I would pay to see Donald Rumsfeld decide that he would like that career change!
And Howie Kurtz is fixated on this story
Kurtz wrote on the Eason Jordan story as well. URL is http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A6490-2005Feb7.html

Yesterday the appellate court upheld the lower court's ruling that reporters Judith Miller and Matt Cooper testify before the so-called "Plame" grand jury.
It is the second request for Cooper who has already given some testimony (after fighting that first order, too, and being cited for contempt).
That is "involved in the Plame story".
I'm happy to help clear up your confusion on what the meaning of "involved" is.
Facts will trump spin.
I, for example, am so interested to see that the grand jury wants Miller to testify about what a "specified government official" told her about "Iraq and uranium".
I have long said the scope is well beyond Plame and her "name" (which wasn't a secret and no crime committed regarding it) and is about leaks of a different nature.
I should add: And don't involve Gannon except his role as reporter and I think what the FBI was interested in is what Wilson had to say to him...everything, not just what was published in the resulting articles (I believe there were three based on the Gannon/Wilson interview).
Welcome to Free Republic.
Um, no...Hart was running for President of the United States.
My goodness, you guys are desperate to hype this up.
No one can live a moral lifestyle.
No. Again you are misrepresenting.
Very interesting. I am compelled to keep reading to see what you say next!
You watch, there's another rumor these guys like to spread and we'll see if it's later on.
That is what separates the Republicans from the Democrats. Democrats would celebrate such 'diversity' and Republicans must above all else uphold moral values.
Really. Thanks for articulating the thinking of the left.
As to "celebrating" the lifestyle, I notice that the right as a rule doesn't condemn and has a real open tent where they employ gays and associate with them without shunning or mocking.
The stance on marriage being between a man and a woman is your hinge, but it falls. There is a difference between "celebrating" (forcing society to accept it) and accepting the individual without having to condone all they do.
Rummy sure can deal with the press,he is the best
Here, here. And that book is the book of intolerance and rigidity.
Last year, the OfficeLib was running around telling people to watch Fahrenheit 911. Comments such as "You afraid to see other ideas that you don't agree with?" he said.
I watched Fahrenheit 911. I found it to be a joke.
Of course when "Micheal Moore Hates America" came out, our OfficeLib refused to watch the DVD. "It's f&*^ing trash," was the rejoinder. Under no circumstances would he watch.
In my experience, many Libs are intolerant of differing opinions to theirs and are more close-minded.
The poster asserted Gannon was pimping our military men. The story is Gannon was offering himself (not our men--I hope you can see the difference).
Doesn't this prove that Republicans really are the "BIG TENT" party?
Kurtz was a bit late and a bit lame on the Eason story. Eason Jordan is a big deal..His accusations , if true would have been a huge story..He accused the US military of targeting reporters in front of an International audience. He did not go public and demand a video and transcript release of the meeting to absolve himself, show he truly cleared it up.
Gannon is an largely unknown reporter for an online news service.
Nobody gives a flying rat's behind about Jeff Gannon. Or Talon News. Seriously, did anybody even read that website except once from a link? We all knew what Talon was and didn't even take them as seriously as NewsMax. It's both the bizarreness of Gannon's behavior and the rabid attitude of the left that has our dander up.
Good point ,we need to hear from the Log Cabin Republicans on this....
When I read this last night I noted that my timeline indicates the Senators are backing off in the wake of the Appellate court upholding Fitzgerald's subpoenas of the reporters the grand jury really wants to hear from.
I shouldn't have said it's the same. I didn't mean it is the same person as the other troll, I meant to say it's the same MO.
