The Jeff Gannon story is still bouncing around the Internet, and now there are pictures.
The kind you shouldn't open up in the office.
The X-rated twist has made for a lot of clandestine clicking in a town where Deep Throat conjures images not of a porn star but of a man in a parking garage. But it has also deepened the debate over blogging and the tactics used to drive a conservative reporter from his job as White House correspondent for two Web sites owned by a Republican activist.
In most Beltway melodramas, the resignation ends the story. The problem for Gannon, whose real name is James Dale Guckert, is that he told The Washington Post and CNN's Wolf Blitzer last week that he never launched the Web sites whose provocative names he had registered, such as hotmilitarystud.com. But a Web designer in California said yesterday that he had designed a gay escort site for Gannon and had posted naked pictures of Gannon at the client's request.

Either Mr. Gannon can now sue the WP or he is a really strange guy.
Incredible
They have the pictures. Thats him. Yuk!
I am certainly glad that Kurtz is covering this well..unlike his Eason Jordan coverage..I guess he has his priorities straight./s
Isn't strange that left wing blogs are gay baiters?
Okay, so if he's gay, are we supposed to think he's sick?
Either liberals want people to accept gays or to shun and chastise them. It can't be both.
So, nitwit Democrats, which is it???
OK Howie, I think we get the, umm,.... Picture. Appears to m the WaPo isn't out to destroy Gannon, they're out to destroy him and "a half".
They're reaching the point of hypocritical gay-bashing.
This is a story because...?
I just learned more about Jeff Gannon than I every really cared to know.
Gannon/Guckert knew he was in the crosshairs of the left for sometime.....surely he must have seen this coming. However,I cannot believe it is now ok to call this a legit story....dirt on anyone is fair game?
see #12
I can't help but notice the amount of time the WaPo has spent on a non-story, and very little time spent on the Eason Jordan story.
He lied about is affiliation with the militarystud website. Furthermore, he created a website for Gay Marines to hook up and do whatever gay marines do when they hook up.
The Washington Post wouldn't give the Swift Vets the time of day. But Jeff Gannon they will try to destroy. He's already gotten more coverage.
For how man years now have we been hearing that the Clinton scandal was all about Republicans's obsession with sex to the exclusion of The Issues? In such partisan cases, all it takes is one event like this to end, for good, any chance of either side saying anyone's sex life is off limits. Before it was just sex lives--Clinton's, Bush's--either party's politicians are game. Now it's at the level of reporters.
Kurtz and his peeps can whine all they want the Gannon "isn't a real reporter" and "he perpetuated the story by claiming" whatever, but all he's doing is giving ammo to anyone who wants to smear Helen Thomas, Maureen Dowd, Eson Jordan or Hey! Howard Kurtz. And it doesn't matter if it has anything to do with their work, because the only reason we know about Gannon's sex life is because, well, lefty bloggers brought it up. His being gay or straight had nothing to do with his question at the White House press briefing.
Enjoy this while you can, Howard and company. You took out a very low-level right-wing journalist; we already tanked Rather and Jordon. Now we've got a whole new angle if we want to, because you said it was legitimate. Nice going!
The liberal press is nuking Gannon as a warning to anyone else who is thinking of filling his shoes. Any other conservative who wants to become a White House reporter with accreditation
I agree with you ...the culture war just went up a notch (maybe 2)
