Calif. sausage maker sentenced to death (murdered three inspectors)

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - A sausage factory owner was sentenced to death Tuesday for killing three meat inspectors nearly five years ago.

Stuart Alexander, 43, the self-proclaimed "sausage king," was convicted in October of three counts of first-degree murder for the 2000 shooting deaths of two federal inspectors and one state inspector at his factory in San Leandro.

A jury recommended Dec. 14 that he be put to death, and an Alameda County judge upheld the sentence. The case will be automatically appealed to the state Supreme Court.

Alexander's public defenders had argued that their client was driven to kill after months of harassment by the inspectors, and the death penalty wasn't intended for "emotion driven killings."

Prosecutors argued that Alexander hatched a "diabolical plan" to kill the inspectors, get away with it by pleading insanity, then write a book or movie to profit and gain notoriety from the crime.

The murders were captured on the factory's surveillance videotape, which was shown to jurors during the five-month trial.

After Alexander killed the three inspectors, he fired at and chased a fourth inspector for several blocks from the Santos Linguisa Factory.

This article says that the sausage maker killed 3 inspectors, but ummmm, it doesn't say how he disposed of the bodies.

"Inspector" is a premium brand of sausage, going for at least $10/lb. Nowadays one couldn't even find it easily - only in the better places.

I'm sorry, California is just a weird state.

He was 38 when he killed 3 people and the competing theories are "the gov't inspectors were harrasing him" and "he had a 'diabolical plot' to murder them for evil fun and profit"

And I never heard about this?

And it didn't get picked up as a "ripped from the headlines" plot.

And Micheal Jackson collapsed on his way to court.

And Robert Blake almost had a coniption fit in court.

You people are all NUTZ. You all make NYers look like we're in Kansas. Sorry.

And sorry for the three dead guys and the one murdered slut and the neglected, molested children.

No hard feelings, but enough is enough and this is too much.

Okay, after searching around it seems that Alexander didn't process his kill. And he had deliberately turned on the video cameras in advance, because he had bragged to others that he'd plead insanity, get out, and write a book/movie script afterwards. It is no wonder that his defense attorney claimed that Alexander had a tiny brain, "90% smaller than most humans".

He felt victimized by the county health inspectors and my favorite quote came from this link:

""If he [Alexander] had just been cooking his meat at the right temperature, he would still be making sausage...."

Good chance he'll be executed too ... making sausage has to be a capital crime in Veganland.
