Georgians convicted of white slavery
An Oslo court Tuesday convicted two men from Georgia of keeping two women as virtual slaves. The women were raped, held captive in an Oslo flat and forced into prostitution.
One of the men, convicted of human trafficking, pimping and kidnapping, was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Prosecutors had sought 13 years.
The other man was sentenced to four years for pimping and kidnapping.
The women, one from Russia and the other from Lithuania, were brought to Norway by the men and forced into prostitution from an Oslo flat. Neither was allowed to keep any of the money that their male customers paid.
Six other men were also convicted in the case, found guilty of rape and organizing prostitution operations against the women's will.
The case ranks as the biggest of its kind in Norwegian history.
This reflects something I had said earlier on another thread in Free Republic; I have nothing against immigration, but I have a great deal against people who go to a new country with the idea they are free to ignore the local law and disrepect the local culture, thinking of this new country as a vast playground in which they can do what they wish to do, all they wish to do.
Georgians are Eastern Orthodox I think?

I am reading a book about places one should visit before he dies, and while there are several pages on Norway, all of them appear to be "artists' colonies" and tourist-traps.
Is there any place in Norway that is unspoiled?

Most of the criminal types coming out of the former Soviet Union are not Christian.

The deal is, there are so many Eastern Orthodox churches it is difficult to discern which one is the original one. One assumes they are all valid churches and all that, but there appears to be considerable differences in the various branches.
Also, there are considerable Armenians (Christian) and Azerbanjis (Moslem) in Georgia, so one concludes the "religion mix" is fairly spirited.

Okay, sir, as we all know, you are in Oslo; you are right there on the spot in Norway, the Nebraska of Europe.
This book recommends, among other things, "Kvikne's Hotel," in Balestrand, but it smacks highly of some sort of modern westernized trendy bed-and-breakfast, with those stupid quilts and all that.
And then it proceeds further north--all the way to the North Pole, as a matter of fact--naming places, and they all sound like tourist-traps and "artists' colonies," even as far north as Tromso.
Norway is a large country with a small population, and surely there are places where the Birkenstock-REI-Burden's Outdoor Outfitters-Ben & Jerry's ice-cream crowd do not go.
I am interested in going where they do not go.

I'm thinking, you might not want to express that when/if you visit.
You know the sorts of quilts; they are used all over America.
Rather than just decent bed-coverings, the sort that is plumped up with stuff on the inside--I know next to nothing about quilts, other than what I do not like.

Those lumpy quilts (generic, not Norwegian, remember) remind me of nothing more than teddy-bear bedside lamps, frilly curtains, baskets of scented soap, and doilies, put in a bedroom to make it look "nice."

These lumpy quilts in bed-and-breakfasts are not all they are made out to be; I spent one night in Wexford, Ireland with three of them on top of me, and my clothes (including my shoes and long overcoat) on, but that was perhaps the coldest night I had ever spent in my life, despite the thickness of the lumpy quilts.
The essentials, madam; just a place to lay down, and a couple of blankets, is all that is required. I assume three-quarters of the charges of bed-and-breakfasts is to pay for the things to make a room look "nice."
