Washington, D.C. (CNSNews.com) - David Brock, a former investigative reporter for conservative publications before flipping his political ideology and writing a book titled, "Blinded by the Right," said Monday that the best way for liberals to expose the current conservative influence in the media is to show how conservatives are "simply willing to lie."
Brock is currently the president and CEO of Media Matters for America, a liberal media watchdog that takes on some of the biggest names in conservative media. In authoring the 2002 book, "Blinded by the Right, The Conscience of an Ex-Conservative," Brock not only distanced himself from the conservative movement, he disclosed his homosexuality.
Monday, he noted examples of how the "professional" or "mainstream media" are influenced by conservative talk radio, the Internet and think tanks. That influence, Brock said, will diminish as the conservative "lies" are exposed.
"The conservatives seem to be particularly vulnerable because the quality of their research is particularly low. There is typically self-interested money behind it and of course they are simply willing to lie," Brock told a group of interns at a luncheon at the Center for American Progress headquarters in Washington D.C.
Brock urged the young media activists to challenge what he views as the conservative media bias.
"I think that all of that has to be confronted in a systemic way. If you shine light on propaganda over time, it does cease to have an effect," Brock said. "Their words can be used against them. The fact that the claims that they make are often dubious can also be brought up in a very effective way," he added.

Brock is rapidly turning into this year's Michael Moore, making unsubstantiated charges of lying against every one to the right of himself.
It may be time to start paying attention and exposing to his own lies, half truths, distortions, etc.
In other news, Dan Rather resigns.
Gee, Mr. Brock, like Dan Rather and CBS and their "fake but accurate" TANG memo?
*ping*
Shall we note the Media Matters coordinated attack on conservative voices? Witness: Gannon, Lowry, Blankley.
I hope this guy wears a tie, so someone can help him get his head out of where the sun doesn't shine.
David Brock=discredited, irrelevant, shill
"...he disclosed his homosexuality."
I thought he was outed by the Washington Post.
Brock urged the young media activists to challenge what he views as the conservative media bias. What Brock means by conservative media bias is the bias of conservative media: his legerdemain reduces to charging that the views of conservative commentators are, indeed, conservative.
It seems Brock likes to tout his former conservative connections in an effort to appear bipartisan, but anyone with even a little bit of common sense would know that Brock is himself a filthy liar and hate monger. The fact that he "flipped" is good for conservatives. We don't need people like him to soil the gene pool. No doubt he was burned by someone on the right and now he is just trying to get some payback for it. What a tool. Media Matters is beyond contempt.
There's that projection thing again.
Of course, according to this morally confused author, there is nothing wrong with PETA, NOW, NARAL and other left-wing liars and nut-cases. Their views make up a substantial portion of left-wing thinking.
So when the left pumps "self-interestd" money into their ideas that turn out to be lies, its okay. But when the right puts their money behind ideas that are called lies, but turn out to be true, its not okay.
You have gone through the looking glass, Alice.
Well, well. Free Republic is now part of the 'dominant' main stream media. This is hilarious that those outlets are seen by the left as dominant. What they really hate is that we have any public voice at all.
Well if anyone knows about lying, it's David Brock.
Brock's financiers include George Soros.
Brock cited the Vietnam War record of Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry and the opposition to his campaign mounted by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth as an example of how conservatives seek to confuse Americans.
If that's the best that Brock can do he is in trouble with his thesis. The case made by the SwiftBoat Vets was never refuted in any way that I could see by Kerry or anyone else on the Dem side. The truth is a tough nut to crack and this past election proves it. It isn't lies that the Dems are afraid of, it's the truth.
This coming from a man who wrote two books filled with lies and then had a nervous breakdown and ended up in the hospital?
"Of course they are simply willing to lie." Where is Brock's proof of this? Where is the research? How can he say all this with a straight face?
Brock, like so many liberals, believes that since the left does all that, well, then, the right must be doing it too. But seldom do we see the two ends of this contradiction in such close proximity as Brock has placed them here.
