I'm hardly a socialist, but if 'protectionism' is required to keep the Democratic Party of power, so be it.
By way of illustration, I offer up my beautiful state of Oregon. We have right to carry, even a right to carry a machine gun if you pay the Federal Tax. We've shot down gay marriage, and just passed a law saying no more taking of property by gov't via the eco-freako-laws.
Yet Oregon didn't end up in Dubya's column. I think this is due to the high unemployment (mostly caused by Slick Willies decision to put restrictions on logging in Federal Forests). So if juggling the imports vs. exports is required to save jobs, count me in. (P.S. I'm still waiting for the great Chinese middle class to start buying our products)

China puts tariffs on our proucts, as does India. So don't expect them to buy anything from us. Also 30 cents an hour ain't gonna buy much.
