Bladerunner is Sci-Fi/noir. It has the look and feel of one of those old 1940's detective movies, but is set in the not too far off near future (well for the 80's). It has a great theme about what makes a human, human too. The "replicants", who the lead character Deckard (played by Harrison Ford) is hunting, are flesh and blood humanoid 'machines' who have a limited life-span but come to Earth
illegally (they're treated as slaves) to confront their maker (the Tyrell Corporation) in an effort to extend their lives. The movie is based on a book by Philip K. Dick called
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.
There's a short story written by the guy that people here might be interested in too: The Pre-Persons. That story has never been made into a movie.
