Terri Schiavo Didn't Deserve Attorney; Feeding Tube Can Be Removed

Terri Schiavo Didn't Deserve Her Own Attorney, Feeding Tube Can be Removed by Steven Ertelt LifeNews.com Editor February 12, 2005

Clearwater, FL(LifeNews.com) -- A local judge has refused to reconsider his ruling allowing the estranged husband of Terri Schiavo to remove her feeding tube and begin a painful week-long starvation process.

Circuit Court Judge George Greer rejected arguments made by attorneys for her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, that she never had her own attorney during the decade long legal battle between them and Michael Schiavo.

The Schindlers say Terri's due process claims were violated as a result.

Friday's decision could set up removal of the feeding tube on February 22 unless Judge Greer puts another stay in place while the Schindlers appeal his decision.

Judge Greer issued a nine-page written order on Friday saying the Schindlers didn't show enough evidence to move forward on a hearing on the due process claims.

"The respondents (the parents) have failed to show that failure to appoint independent counsel violated statutory or constitutional due process requirements that would void the court's (previous) order," Greer wrote.

He cited a ruling by the Florida 2nd District Court of Appeal, which previously said it was appropriate for Greer to serve as an independent advocate for Terri as he considered the arguments by both sides.

"In reviewing the many boxes of court filings," Schindler attorney David Gibbs said before the ruling, "we cannot find a single instance where Terri was afforded the right of every American to have a lawyer who would represent her own interests." George Felos, the euthanasia advocate who is Michael's lead attorney, told the Associated Press he wasn't surprised by the ruling.

"I don't think it's any surprise the judge decided not to declare his order void after it's been reviewed by 20 or 30 appellate justices," Felos said. He indicated he expected the Schindlers to appeal the ruling, which could push back the date for removing the feeding tube. Felos also said Michael intends to remove the feeding tube unless legally prevented from doing so by another stay.

The Schindlers have other legal motions in play that could spare Terri's life a little longer. They are appealing a decision by the 2nd District court saying that starving Terri to death does not violate her religious liberties. The Schindlers hope the U.S. Supreme Court will agree that, as a Catholic, Terri would oppose Michael's euthanasia bid.

The Schindlers also have a third motion in court that asks Judge Greer to remove Michael as Terri's legal guardian because of numerous conflicts of interest. Terri has been dehumanized by euthanasianists in the same manner and for the same reasons as the unborn have been dehumanized by pro-death misanthropes. The judge, by stating that Terri "didn't need an attorney" has said in effect, that she "doesn't count" (for moral considerations). I'm sure he considers himself to be worthy though.

Misanthropes have thus far exterminated 40,000,000+ unborn. If they're successful in having Terri murderered by starvation, they'll have the precedent they need to begin the death process for those 'already' born.

Kind of makes me want to go to Florida on the 22nd and stand -- where? in front of the 'hospital' where she is staying? In front of the Governor's office? What if there were people in the streets? I am so sorry, this is SO offensive.

What about the woman who just came out of the coma 20 years later wouldn't that make a good case for Terri?

The "husband" in this case is pure evil. If this were my daughter I do not know what I would be doing right now!

Our Declaration doesn't say that only some people have an inalienable right to life. It says we all have it. But gnostic activist judges don't believe in or have any loyalty to our Constitution or Rule of Law.
They just do whatever they want to do. We need to purge our judiciary of these internationalist humanists; they're deconstructing our institutions and sentencing innocent people to death.

I agree. I'll never understand why the two people who brought her into this world aren't given one ounce of say in this matter. It's sickening!

Let's just cut the pretense and cut her wrists, or give her a lethal injection. YOu want her to die, right? So let's be human and just kill her quickly. You wouldn't even starve a dog to death without criminal charges!

WHile we are at it, Hitler had a great idea of killing off all the decrepit, retarded, homosexual, mentally ill, and inconvenient people. Just kill them.

They already have it. They do this routinely now to people in nursing homes, all over the country.

Thanks for the post, Lindy. There is so much wrong with all of this. Isn't there anyone in FL that is looking into this? There are so many red flags here I'm wishing I was a bank clerk in Penellas Co. where these people do their banking. Where are the whistleblowers? Didn't make any sense that MS would pay Felos the lions' share of the medical malpractice award. Is Felos just saying he's received it? And MS is going to recieve the 750,000 after all? It's reported that only 50,000 is left! Does it make any sense that MS would spend that kind of money to have his wife killed? How does Greer get paid?

If all else fails, does any Freeper want to start lobbying to have the blind (Judge Greer is legally blind) put out of their misery? Obviously they are not living a "quality life," and are certainly a pain in the a$$ to the rest of us.

I agree with you, bboop. This is offensive. Bad enough these 'do-gooders' have decided that the unborn don't have the same rights, but now actual, born humans? A sad, sad day for Terri and her family as she is forced to slowly starve to death. And a sad day for all us humans. Hopefully yet another miracle will lift or postpone her death sentence. Prayers sent. I'll be in Florida on the 22nd in spirit, at least. How sad.

Exactly. It's like people can be done away with when it is convenient or whatever, like money. I detest these people. They are the lowest of the lowest.

Remember, what goes around comes around ten fold and these people will surely learn what hell is all about. In all their smugness; this will happen.

Well, if and when the honorable judge greer ever finds himself in the same predicament, I would fight for his right to live.......I, uh, I think. .....Nah, screw it. What he judges for Terry let be put upon him.
