You'll never see a cat do this.
Some years ago there was a story about a cat in Russia: the cat used to catch pigeons and bring them to its owner - an elderly, about 80, man. He cooked and ate them (and fed his cat, I suppose) and survived thereby. Even stranger things have been known to happen.

There was a Mother cat a while back that rescued her kittens from a burning building. She fought her way back and fourth through the fire to fetch each and every one of those kittens. Even with both ears brunt off she went back in until she saved all her babies.
I figured the humane society would put her to sleep she was so bad off. But they didn't. They gave her all the special care they could. She got well and some lucky cat lover adopted her.

Henry Wriothesley, third Earl of Southampton with his cat in the Tower of London, c.1601-1603.
Cat used to catch pigeons for him to eat. In gratitude he had their portrait painted together.
