BOSTON -- As defrocked priest Paul Shanley faces sentencing on child rape charges, inmate advocates are worried that sending him to prison could amount to a death sentence for a man who was at the very center of the Boston Archdiocese sex scandal.
After all, another key figure in the scandal, former priest John Geoghan, was beaten and strangled behind bars in 2003, a year after he was convicted of molesting a 10-year-old boy. A fellow inmate told investigators he killed Geoghan "to save the children."
Some are worried that the 74-year-old Shanley could be the next mark for an inmate.
"He's so high-profile that that puts a big target on his back," said James Pingeon, an attorney at Massachusetts Correctional Legal Services, which represents inmates. "We feel concerned. Obviously he's a vulnerable person because of his notoriety and his age."

And? Why did he not die while still on the street at the hands of one of the molested or their parent? Why does the court not apply a death penalty to such perverts?
Nothing will happen to this troll. He'll be protected and coddled by the system until his dying day. Meanwhile, Catholics like myself get a double violation; we have to pay for the settlements with his victims through our weekly offerings and then we have to bend over as taxpayers to fund his stay in Club Ped(ophile).
They had an in depth article on the priest scandals in Boston and this guy has been at the center of it for a long time.

Hell, is! He never worried about it before, obviously! He preached all those years, and it never occured to Him that He had problems? I reckon whatever happens in prison is gonna be the least of His worries! It is possible for a thief, or murderer, to be disgusted with what this monster has done. Some of them have little left to lose. Lots of people in prison that would never harm a Kid, I would likely pray for a pardon for the Man that takes this beast out!

I spent Sunday P.M. riding bike trails with My 12 year old Grandson, got told a couple of times, "Love You, Oompah", Violate this trust? Ain't no way! I suspect this snake believed He was expressing love, but He is warped, and absolutely evil.
Don't ask Me why My name is "Oompah", I have no clue, but it is cool, and makes Me very proud.
This monster needs to be very afraid of death, no matter how it comes.
Was the article unbias? Did the writer make any attempt to sensationalize the issue, or was true journalistic integrity being exercised?
And anybody who thinks otherwise should check the registry of sex offenders in their area. Most if not all the people on that list have served time and lived to tell about it.
I actually asked someone who was in prison. He said that they only have so much free time.
Anyway I think it's more of a fairy tail we tell ourselves.
So you approve of letting prisoners entertain themselves in jail by raping other prisioners?
Well, I guess they have to stay in practice to prepare for the day they are released to prowl among us.
I'm saying if this priest get's raped I won't feel bad for him.
Rape still shouldn't be happening in prisons. If we have to rely on some criminal code of conduct to carry out justice, then we're clearly not enforcing harsh enough penalities.
Well if we had real justice in this country he would be swinging at the end of a rope by now...
Anyone of us or our loved ones might land in prison.

The Preist deserves to get raped. But no one has the right to rape him.

I think criminals and pedophiles should be taken out into the street and flogged.
The only difference is, that we don't have to look at it when it's in prison.
I think Singapore has it right.

There is no such thing as a criminal code of justice.

As if Criminals are going to deviate justice accordingly. We're kidding ourselves.
Only the pedophiles in prison get raped? We've all got to be kidding ourselves.
If you think prsioners should be punished by being raped, then let's make rape a legal penalty.
And the government can hire rapists to carry out that sentence, in the same way the government hires executioners.
