All yall are hearing is her side. Making a 19 y/o leave home and get a job isn't punishment. It's growing up. It would not have hurt anything but her pride to get a job at McDonalds and put herself thru Junior college.

I left home at 18 - oh my, was my mom surprised. I learned about the Pell Grant. I collected my $800 per semester and finished in 4 years.

This could definitely be a factor concerning the publicity and all. I can only imagine how much financial support she realizes she's missing out on....

Wish my mom was as rich as Alan and his wife.

19? She is just going thru a phase/fade, whatever. I've seen this in young girls quite often. No big deal.

Oh, I agree whole-heartedly. That's pretty much what I did except I worked at a car wash in the blistering heat.

Hmmm Junior College vs. Brown...I think that would have more of an impact on her life than "pride."
