Steve Lovelady, who happens to be the Managing Editor of the Columbia Journalism Review, has posted his renewed apologetic concerning the professional demise of Eason Jordan here.

For some odd reason, Lovelady's comments seem to be the only entry on CJR Daily which does not permit folks to post comments about it. Also, he neglects to mention is "slavering morons" and "lynch mob" which he has confirmed is an accurate quote, in his latest post. (If anyone can solve the post-to-Lovelady's-post problem, please let me know.

The short of it is this: No one should make such a comment about any group, especially without bothering to research the backgrounds and bona fides of those involved. This is twice-times true when this slander (libel, if is published) when done by someone who purports to be a journalist. (Lovelady told me that he formerly worked for Time magazine.) This is three-times true when it is done by a leading official of the voice of the oracle of the MSM, the CJR.

He still owes us an apology. He still has no clue why Jordan had it coming. He still has no real clue about the nature of what we members of the "Pajama Patrol" do, and how seriously we take our task.

CBB,

Firstly keep up the good work. I am a relatively new reader of your posts.

Secondly, in reading literally THOUSANDS of posts related to Jeff Gannon, Eason Jordan, Dan Rather (who?), we seem to have settled in with an understanding that it was 'all the rest of us' warring with the MSM. MSM (television branch) seemed to think that by ignoring the internet forums, chats, aggravated viewers and listeners, everyone would eventually get tired, shut up and go away. But that didn't happen.. more and more the battle shifted to the internet. With published internet pieces being called into question, debated, debunked, self-corrected, and in some cases invitimg a participatory audience, the old medium for dispensing the news and spoon feeding us opinions we ought have, has suffered a lethal blow. It was the abuse of pubic trust, that removed all credibility from the OLD medium, and the speed to the truth, that'll bury them.

That said, there is another level of a battle brewing as I see it . It's not left v right, TV v internet (forums, blogs etc.), is OLD VERSUS NEW.

The failures of network news to report (fairly) and shove pre-screened, neatly packaged agenda items down it's viewers throats, FORCED people to go to the internet for the news. Clicking about, finding voices that sounds like yours, then, human nature is to know what others are saying. Voices from all political stripes weighing rumor against the facts, and coming down with a conclusion made for ones own self. Some of the cyber voices are founded and fueled by hatred. Proudly wearing their bias, is actually a good thing for a reader to know going in. The smoke and mirrors scam by the alphabet networks is taking it's last breaths. It's own blatent bias and arrogance forced us to take our 'business' elsewhere. I'll make up my own mind now thank you.

But I see a second wave. That being the left TV newsies, battling it out with their lefty forums, bloggers etc., for delivering the news. Let me add this: the TV / Print News orgs are USED to setting the agenda.. but that is not necessarily the case in cyber world. Right or left there are different flavors, and TO ME, it's even more threatening to the left to allow the fringe in their own party take control the message, while losing control of the party. Afterall, what is a lefty these days? To me, they're a collection of special interest wackjobs. There is no unified cohesive BELIEVABLE vision coming out of that wing.

The media *age* is changing. And Jurassic Park is closing.

My 2 cents.

Which is a darn good reason why he doesn't get the blogsphere - he probably despises criticism and give-and-take, especially from the drooling rabble, which, in his mind, is everyone not on an editorial board at a major newspaper.
