Hilarious! Anybody who knows anything about academic writing knows that the number of footnotes means nothing. In fact, if anything, it's a sign of intellectual laziness and the herd mentality.
You can throw anything and everything into your footnotes. It doesn't mean you're actually citing something significant from the sources in your notes, and it certainly doesn't mean you're not plagiarizing. What it does mean is that you know how to play the academic game.
