Reports: Fowler to buy Vikings, becoming NFL's first black owner

The Minnesota Vikings are on the verge of being sold in a deal that would transfer the franchise from Red McCombs to the NFL's first black owner, Arizona businessman Reggie Fowler, according to several media reports.

Without a stadium plan resolved by the '07 season, the makings for no more Vikings in MN for a long time are very ripe...someone will be building a stadium in the next few years for the Vikes, only MN could quite very possibly not be the locale.

There is a school of thought that some within the hierarchy of the NFL do not want to put a team in LA because some owners use that as leverage to better their current standing. That may be true but at some point the amount of teams who will go that route will dwindle to none if they all get what they want by threatening a move to Los Angeles. The Saints, I believe, have also been rumored going to LA.
